Making Your Customers Feel Important

If you own a business, it will be easy for you to look at your customers as nothing more than money for you, but while it is true that the primary function of your customers - as far as your business is concerned - is to bring in money for you, it is also true that your customers are unlikely to remain your customers (and are unlikely to keep bringing you those dollars!) if you do not treat them valuably.

Most business owners are aware of the fact that about ninety per cent of a company's business will typically come from ten per cent of its customers (in other words - there is nothing more valuable to a company than its loyal customers!), and this is exactly why treating your customers as if they are more important to you than the simple value of their money is absolutely vital; as you are find ways to make your customers feel valued, you will create more and more loyal customers, and this will bring more and more money your way.

Making your customers feel like you care about them is one of the best ways to make your customers feel important; one of the best ways to do this is to begin to learn the names of your customers so that you can greet them by name when they enter your store - and you will also want to chat with them whenever they are in the mood to chat, as this will allow you to get to know more about them, and will give you things that you can ask them each time they come shopping at your store.

And if you create a rewards program, or a frequent shopper program, this can be surprisingly effective; create an email list (or a special section on your website) for "members," and give these members special coupons, and even notify them early of special deals and promotions that they can take advantage of.

There is a whole lot more involved in running a successful business than just providing a good product or service - and as soon as you start making your customers feel important, you will be one step closer to this "so much more," and to the success that it brings.

Is A Business Degree The Most Valuable Degree For Me?

If you will soon be heading off to college - or if you are already in college and are trying to decide what you want to major in - one of the degrees that will probably stand out to you as a 'good, solid choice' is a business degree. After all, 'business' covers so many areas, and even if you do not know what you want to do after college, there is a good chance you will be able to use a business degree to help you get there - right?

Actually, it turns out that a degree in business might not be nearly as useful as it once was - and here is why.

Over the years, Business has become the major people choose when they do not know what else to choose, and in addition to there already being lots of people interested in business, this creates a situation where large numbers of students are in every single class. Because each professor is likely teaching a handful of classes throughout the week - and because all of these classes have a large number of students - these professors are unlikely to hand out any "writing" assignments that are terribly difficult; which has been proven lately to be a mistake, as companies are looking to hire employees who know how to write!

If you are truly interested in business, a business degree can still be a valuable thing to have - but you should seriously consider pairing your business degree with a degree in another area of study that will require you to do a lot of writing in order to obtain a degree. Even though such majors as English, History, or Philosophy have long been seen as degrees that do not have much practical application in "the real world," the starting income for those who have such degrees is actually higher these days than for those with business degrees - so as you choose your major, you should keep this fact in mind!

Resolving Workplace Conflicts

We deal with conflicts in all areas of our life, from our wife and our children to our parents and our siblings. But often we also deal with conflicts in the workplace, and these can be the most difficult conflicts to resolve. We are better equipped to handle familial conflicts because of the foundation of relationship that is already in place, both before and after the conflict. In the workplace, however, conflicts can become much more volcanic, as we can be dealing with people we hardly knew, or with people we wish we hardly knew! There is no magic elixir that can make workplace conflicts go away completely in an infallible manner, but there certainly are specific things you can do that will enable you to diffuse workplace conflicts before they spin out of control, no matter how close they are to spinning out of control already.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when dealing with conflict, especially in the workplace, is assigning blame. If you tell someone, "You don't do any work," they are less likely to react the way you might like for them to react than if you say, "I feel like I am doing all the work here."

When dealing with conflicts, an excellent approach is the "us versus the problem" approach. This approach essentially aims to allow both individuals involved in the conflict to work together against the problem, instead of the two individuals being pitted against one another. This is also a great way to avoid placing blame, as the problem becomes something both people are fighting against together, instead of something that is being ascribed to one person.

Finally, think long and hard about the prudence of involving your superiors in a conflict before you do so. While this can settle an argument for good, it also can create bitterness between yourself and the coworker in question. Furthermore - no matter who is "right" and who is "wrong" - nobody looks good when a conflict gets taken to a higher-up.

Conflict resolution is not always easy, but it is often necessary. Instead of fighting and making your conflicts worse, learn how to solve them.

Looking At Three SEO Tips You Might Not Have Thought Of

When you are working on search engine optimization within the content of your website, one thing that will be important is that you pay attention to all the little things you can do that will help; while most of your competition will be paying attention to the big things, adding these little things to your repertoire of SEO tricks will go a long way in setting your site apart - and bringing you extra traffic as a result.

One thing that you need to realize is your site will probably rank a lot more highly if search engines are "crawling" your site on a regular basis, and search engines are unlikely to crawl your site on a regular basis if you are never adding new content; if your site does not "have a reason" to add new content at least three times per week, consider adding a blog section to your site, and update this at least three days a week in order to increase your crawl frequency.

Another thing that will help your site is for you to share link juice with yourself; typically, when you think of link juice, you will think of the links you are giving to other sites, and the links they are giving to you, but you can also spread link juice throughout your own site - linking to certain posts or sections throughout your site.

And finally, remember that writing off-site articles, and submitting these articles to article databases, is a big key to SEO success: firstly, you will create an opportunity to gain new traffic through people clicking on the links in these articles, and secondly, you will increase your search engine ranking through the backlinks these articles create.

Regardless of whether you have a website as a means to promote your business or as a means to hopefully make money on its own, make sure you are always keeping your eyes open for the "little things" your competitors are missing - and take advantage of these as a way to gain an edge in the long run.

Having Fun At Work

Most people dream of working a job that they truly enjoy, and one of the reasons why they "dream" of this is because the job they actually work does not fit this bill. But while it is true that there will be things about your job you will inevitably not enjoy, this would also be the case even if you landed your "dream" job, and once you realize this, it is easy to also start realizing that you can have fun in whatever job you work, as long as you decide to have fun and enjoy it - and in fact, you will also start to find that the more fun you have at work (the more you enjoy work!), the more productive you will be!

Having fun at work can be as simple as trying to start building relationships with your coworkers; lots of people go to work, do their work, and go home, without ever making an effort to get to know those around them, but when you become friends with your coworkers, going to work and seeing them each day will become much more enjoyable.

Having fun at work can also be as simple as finding things you enjoy that you can do while working; for some people, this is listening to music, for others it is taking short breaks to work on a crossword puzzle, and for others it is simply getting up every once in a while and going for a walk.

And lastly, having fun at work can sometimes be as simple as making sure you are working hard; when you make it your goal to truly work hard, you will start to feel much more fulfilled with your job, and this will in turn make your job a whole lot more enjoyable.

It is certainly easy to complain about your current job while you wait for that "dream job" to come your way, but it is nearly as easy to turn your current job into everything you wish for that dream job to be - and it is also much more rewarding!

Exploring The Question: Is Google Dying?

If you are just getting into search engine marketing, or if you have a small business that is fairly new, and you are just setting up your website, one thing you may hear from people is that you should focus on your online efforts on social media because "search" (or, because Google) is dying; this belief is still somewhat quiet, but because of the popularity of social media, this belief has been growing, and in order to understand the facts surrounding this belief, it will be helpful to look at some related statistics.

One of the first things you should understand, when it comes to the question of whether or not search is dying, is the number of people who use search on a daily basis; while there are about 65 percent of Internet users who use social media (which is a very high number, to be sure), an average of 92 percent of Internet users use search engines - every single day!
On top of the fact that so many people use search every single day (which, of course, is a number that is so high it is unlikely to increase any more), the number of actual searches conducted on a daily basis actually keeps on growing, as incredible as that seems; last year, the average number of searches conducted each day was an incredible three billion - and this number continues to grow each year!

And if all these things are not enough to strengthen your resolve in the fundamental importance of search engine optimization, and in the continuing strength of search, one more interesting fact is that Google's natural growth rate is 18 to 19 percent per year; this is the overall growth Google experiences even without changing anything, improving anything, or coming up with any new innovations - all of which, of course, are things that Google does each year!
The idea that you should sink some of your focus into social media certainly has plenty of merit, as social media is very popular, but you should also realize that search is alive and well - and search engine optimization will be your best bet for online success!

Dealing With Criticism At Work

It can often seem like your job is your "life" with the amount of time and energy you put into it - no matter how much effort you might put into trying to convince yourself otherwise - and because of this tendency for people to feel this way about their jobs, it can be a tough pill to swallow when they encounter what they feel is unwarranted criticism or negative feedback about their work. While it can certainly be tough to handle criticism when you are investing so much of yourself into a job, it is also quite possible to deal with this criticism in an appropriate manner, as long as you take the proper approach.

You need to accept criticism when it comes, and this is the first thing you need to realize about handling criticism in the workplace; if your boss is giving you criticism at work, it is likely because they see something that they feel you should fix, and arguing with them is not going to make the situation any better!

Find a place where you can be alone for a little while after you have accepted the criticism; in this "alone place," think about the criticism you were given, and establish whether there is anything you can take away from the things that were said. You should use this time as an opportunity to acknowledge the things about your performance that are worth commending, but you should also see what truth and means for learning you can take from the things that were said to you.

Finally, the most important part of dealing with criticism at work is reminding yourself that - no matter how much time you spend at your job - this is not your life, and it is not the most important thing in your life! When you come to this realization, it will be much easier for you to learn from criticism given to you at work, without getting weighed down by the negative aspects of the criticism in question.

The Seven Parts Of A Business Plan

It might be time for you to write a business plan for your company, and if this is the case you might not know exactly what the next step is. Not only is a business plan important for a startup, or for a business that needs to procure a loan, but a business plan should be part of every business. A business plan gives your business direction and a definition of purpose, all in a tidy, organized document. These are the seven elements you will need in your business plan.

1) Executive Summary: This will be the last part you write - it is basically a summary of everything you will say in the document - but it will come at the beginning.

2) Company Description: This part will detail your history up to the present if you are an established business, while it will detail your startup plans if your business is new.

3) Product or Service: Keep the focus on the customer in this section, as you desribe in detail what you plan to sell or perform

4) Market Analysis: This is hugely important, especially when you need a loan. You need to use this section to detail your understanding of what your customers need and how you plan to reach them.

5) Strategy and Implementation: It is absolutely vital that you avoid vagueness in this section. Give concrete details about your company's structure and strategies.

6) Management Team: This section can become an excellent selling point, as you bring your management team's strengths to the forefront.

7) Financial Strategy: Provide detailed projections and analysis in this section; this section of your business plan is especially important if you are a startup company.

A good business plan can help you get your feet under you as a business, and if your business already has its feet under it, a good business plan can help you gain traction. On the other hand, a bad business plan can keep you from getting the money you need, and it can keep your business from moving forward.

The Importance of Customer Loyalty to Your Business

The true strength of any successful business is customer loyalty and any business owner will attest to this. Customer loyalty leads into many other benefits that are essential for a business to thrive. Many people then ask how they can increase this loyalty. There isn't one answer, but rather a combination of different methods that can help build customer loyalty. Many of these facets an how to employ them are included in a book released by the Harvard Business Review which details their importance.

One of the main ideas behind customer loyalty is to make sure your customers are coming back and bringing new customers with them. This is a pretty simple idea, but executing it is not. The first place where you can make improvements that will effect customer loyalty is to make sure you employees are happy. Employees who are happy will be much more willing to spread this pleasure on to your customers. This will result in all of your customers feeling that your business is a great place to buy from.

Turning negative situations that arise into positive ones is another step to take. Training in this skill will be needed by your employees, but since they are happy they should learn quickly. When a customer has a problem there is tremendous opportunity to deepen the relationship. Start by exceeding the customer's expectations for a solution, never say no to them right away, and make sure that they know an exception is being made specifically for them. This can easily turn them into not only a loyal customer, but a referring one.

Extensive research has been done by the Harvard Business Review and they have discovered certain steps that business owners can use to improve loyalty of their customers. The above ideas are just the beginning and the book goes into much more detail on the subject. Customer service is the focus of many aspects of customer loyalty, but the book points out others located in different arenas. All the topics concerning customer loyalty are reviewed to help you build a well rounded plan.

Using The Buying Cycle To Your Advantage

If you have a small business website, or if you have started a site for search engine marketing, one thing you will probably be doing is using search engine optimization in order to target people who are searching for the product or service available on your site; while this is a great start to driving traffic your way and making money as a result, you should also realize that there are a few more things you should pay attention to in order to make sure this traffic turns into sales - namely, the way the buying cycle works these days.

There is a high percentage of consumers who will head to the Internet these days when there is a product they are thinking about buying (especially a product that will cost a decent chunk of money - which is where your focus should be, especially if you are a search engine marketer), and the first thing people are likely to do when they go online is compare the specs on different products; while it is fine to bring traffic your way at this point, one thing you should also realize is that you are unlikely to convert this particular traffic into profits!

The reason you are going to have a hard time turning this traffic into profits is because most people will move from this point to A) asking friends (perhaps on Twitter and facebook) for opinions on the products they have looked at, and B) looking up reviews of these products; this is another big spot in the buying cycle that a lot of people target on their sites, but it is not a big part of the buying cycle for actual sales!

Finally, you are going to arrive at the end of the buying cycle, when consumers will be searching keywords such as "best deals on" the particular product, or "best prices on" the product in question; because this is the part of the buying cycle when the most sales are going to be made, this is the part of the buying cycle you will want to aim to target in your keyword approach, as this will bring you the highest conversion rate!

Bringing lots of traffic to your website will be an important part of making money on this site, but another aspect that will be just important is converting this traffic into sales - and when you understand the buying cycle, you will be well on your way to doing this!

Tracking Your Progress On A Project

Regardless of whether you are a high school student, a college student, or a full-time employee at a desk job, one of the most difficult things can be working on a long-term project that requires a lot of work, as it can make it difficult to complete a project when you are unable to see your progress. While working on a project over a long span of time, it can feel like the project will never end; one way to counteract this feeling is by keeping track of your progress as you make your way through a project.

The first step you need to take in tracking your progress throughout a project is to set up a step-by-step process of how you plan to approach the project; this will give you a framework from which you can work, figuring out how much work you need to do at each point in time.

As you make your way through the project, start to fill in notes on your work from each section of the project; not only will these notes help you see how far along in the project you have come, but they will also give you a detailed breakdown of how much work you have done.

Once you finish each distinct section, you will be able to cross that section off your list, which will allow you see how many sections you started out with and how many you still have left to complete.

Of course, with any long-term project, discipline will be as important as any other aspect of the project, as you can come up with all the "plans" and "charts" you want, but this will mean nothing if you are not maintaining discipline to work on the project as time passes. As long as you are able to focus on a long-term project from an early point - keeping track of your progress as you make your way through it - you should be able to avoid stress while completing any project in a timely manner!

Making Your Website Stand Out To Your Visitors

It is a common problem faced by people running a website in order to promote their small business or otherwise make money: they have put in a lot of work in order to appeal to search engines, and this work is paying off in the form of lots of additional traffic, but with all this extra traffic, they are finding that they are not making any extra sales; for those who face this issue, the problem often lies in the fact that their website itself does not stand out to visitors - so if you have dealt with this problem yourself, here are a few things to consider doing!
The first thing you will want to do is ask yourself what things about your site are going to make people love it - especially compared to the other options they have among sites that are similar to yours; if you are able to answer this question, make sure the things about your site that people will love stand out - and if you are not able to answer this question, figure out what you can change in order to be able to answer this question, and then make this stand out!

The next thing you will want to do is ask yourself what you can do in order to make sure your visitors will trust you; because there are sure to be so many sites similar to yours, trust will be a big factor, so think of any accolades, experience, or endorsements you have that will make people feel more comfortable choosing your site over another, and make sure these things are visible to all who visit your site!

And finally, it will help you quite a bit to figure out what there is about your site that will encourage people to keep coming back; when you are able to get people to keep coming back to your site, you will greatly increase the likelihood of them making additional purchases - and you will increase the likelihood of them sharing your site with others so that you gain new customers through them.
As you aim to build your website, keep all these things in mind, and you will soon be experiencing a whole lot more success, as your site will stand out to those who visit, and will generate profits as a result.

Tips For Starting A Christmas Light Business

The dream of being self-employed is something a lot of people hold onto (and with the state of the economy being what it is at the moment, being self-employed can actually be more stable than being employed by a regular job!), but one mistake a lot of people make in pursuing this goal is that they get locked into a specific idea of what they want to do in order to be self-employed, rather than keeping their eyes open for various opportunities; if you want to be permanently self-employed, the best thing you can do is open up various avenues for yourself - and one avenue that is especially worth pursuing (and that can be especially profitable!) is hanging Christmas lights.

Before you get started, you will need to make sure you take all the preliminary steps: first off, you will need to make sure you are fully insured for the work before you get started; secondly, you will want to have plenty of Christmas lights purchased and ready to go before you start collecting customers; and thirdly, you will want yard signs that you can put in the yards of the people for whom you hang Christmas lights.

You will want to offer to do a few houses for free once these preliminary aspects are all taken care of; even though you will make no money directly off these houses, doing a few houses for free will make you money in the long run, as you can put your yard sign in these yards and start collecting new customers.

And even though the bulk of your business will be easy for you to take care of on your own, make sure you have someone who will be able to help you if you need it; after all, you might be surprised at how quickly your business booms, and you will not want to have to turn down jobs just because you failed to secure someone who could help you!

You should be able to get started with your Christmas lights business with these tips in mind - which will move you one step closer to being fully self-employed in a variety of areas!

A Look At Some Of The Best Ways To Generate Web Traffic

One thing you understand if you have a website is that traffic is the biggest key of all to achieving success; after all, when you have a lot of traffic, your opportunities for making sales and making money are huge - but when you have very little traffic, your ability to turn profit from your website will be severely limited. Because of this, anyone who runs a website should make sure they understand some of the core components of bringing traffic their way.

The first thing you need to realize is that you are going to need to work on your on-site search engine optimization - which means optimizing the keywords and the tags on your site so that you are showing search engines what you want them to see. When you do this effectively, you will greatly appeal to search engines, and will be able to show them exactly how you are wanting them to rank you.

On top of optimizing your site for search engines in order to make it easier for them to look at your site, you will need to get away from your site to start stirring up backlinks. Backlinks are the links from other sites that point both readers and search engines back to yours - and the more backlinks you have (and the more highly-ranked the sites from which these backlinks come), the more quickly you will see your traffic numbers and your search engine rank rising!

And finally, you need to start becoming active on other websites, all across the Internet, as well. This means you should try to leave comments on blogs, and should aim to participate in forums, as doing so will help create more awareness about your site, and will make it easier for you to bring traffic your way!

In all, creating traffic on your website (and making the money that comes with this) is a process - but when you take the right steps along the road for this process, you will increase your chances of achieving success with your website, and of making the sort of money with your site you hope to make!

Using Social Media To Promote Your Small Business

One of the most valuable tools available these days to anyone with a small business is social media, as it is a free way to "advertise" to current and potential customers, and as it gives you an opportunity to meet people where they are, and to interact with them directly; of course, while most people who run a small business are aware of the fact that social media is a great tool, it can be a bit confusing to try to figure out exactly what you can do in order to take advantage of it!

As you try to integrate social media into the center of your approach to business, one thing that will be extremely important will be that you start working toward constructing a social media platform of your own; start working to develop a Twitter and facebook presence that will enable you to reach out to and interact with potential and current customers, and this will help you a great deal.

As you interact with people through your own social media platforms, you will start to see more traffic coming your way, but it will also be absolutely necessary for you to get others to use their social media outlets to share your site as well; once you have people on your site, make sure you are building your site around the concepts of interaction and sharing, as this will naturally encourage your readers to share your site as well.

And finally, it is important for you to understand that Twitter and facebook give you a great forum for disseminating content from your site - but you should be aware of the fact that it will have a negative impact if you tweet or facebook links to your site too often. Instead of using Twitter and facebook to try to send people to your site all the time, wait until you have big news or an important announcement - and in between those times, continue interacting with people on facebook and Twitter, as well as on your own site, and watch as your traffic (and your profits!) continue to rise.

How To Resolve Workplace Conflicts

Conflicts are a natural part of life - we deal with them with our parents, with our siblings, with our spouses, and even with our own children. But the most difficult conflicts to resolve are usually not those we have with the people close to us, but are the ones we have in the workplace. We are better equipped to handle familial conflicts because of the foundation of relationship that is already in place, both before and after the conflict. In the workplace, however, conflicts often deal with people we hardly know (or, at least, with people we wish we hardly knew!), and this can make them much more explosive. While there is no cure-all for ending, avoiding, or resolving workplace conflicts, there are some things you can do to ensure that you take care of conflicts when they pop up, diffusing them before they become something much bigger than they should be.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when dealing with conflict, especially in the workplace, is assigning blame. For instance, if you feel that someone on your project team is not doing any work, they are more likely to listen to you if you say, "I feel like I am doing all the work," instead of if you say "You don't do any work."

The "us versus the problem" is an especially positive approach to take when dealing with conflicts. Rather than instituting a "me versus you" situation, the "us versus the problem" approach acknowledges that there is a problem, and it aims to combine the forces of both individuals to work the problem out. By working together against the problem, you can also easily avoid placing blame, as the problem has now become the issue in question, rather than it being one person or the other.

Finally, although it might be tempting to do so, do not always involve your superiors in an argument. When you involve your superiors, it can quickly create bitterness between yourself and the coworker with whom you had conflict. Furthermore - no matter who is "right" and who is "wrong" - nobody looks good when a conflict gets taken to a higher-up.

Conflict resolution is not always easy, but it is often necessary. Instead of fighting and making your conflicts worse, learn how to solve them.

Does It Matter Who I Exchange Reciprocal Links With On My Website?

When you are conducting some search engine optimization on your website, you will probably be looking for different ways by which you can take advantage of the manner in which search engines work - and once you understand that backlinks (that is, links from another site that point users to your site) are among the most important elements of SEO, this may lead you to start doing some reciprocal links - where you link to another site in exchange for a link back to you - but while this can be a beneficial SEO trick, it can also hurt your website if you do not do it right!

Know who is linking to you: If you have a website that ranks well, and you are exchanging a reciprocal link with a site that is brand new, or that is not high-ranking at all, you will still be helping them, but they will not be helping you at all; furthermore, you will not receive any help through a reciprocal link if you are exchanging links with a site that is deemed by search engines to be irrelevant to yours.

Know who you are linking to: While links from a poorly-ranked site will not hurt your search engine ranking, you should know that it is possible to hurt your search engine ranking by linking to "unsavory" sites; if a website is packed with spam, or if it is overflowing with pop-up ads, or if the content on the site is offensive, linking to this site will actually hurt your standing with search engines rather than helping you!

Pay attention to anchor text: The anchor text (that is, the text that this "partner website" is turning into a link) will also make a difference in whether or not the reciprocal link does anything for you; the best way to reciprocate links is to tell the other person what you want the anchor text to say, as this will allow you to make sure that the anchor text contains keywords that are relevant to the page being linked to, which will cause the link to have more weight with search engines.

SEO can be complicated at first, but once you start understanding the little things such as this, you will be in much better shape to boost your placement on search engine rankings pages!

How To Come Up With Effective Advertisements

Running a successful business is difficult if you do not manage to run successful advertisements – but one of the toughest things about running effective advertisements is that, while you have probably spent a lot of time learning the ins and outs of business, you have probably not spent a whole lot of time being trained in the intricacies of advertising. While it is certainly prudent to do as much study as you can before committing any significant amount of time and money to an advertising campaign, here are a few things for you to pay attention to, as far as advertising goes, to help you get started.

You will need to figure out your target audience before you do anything else, as each different target audience will require a different approach to the ads you are placing; while some companies have only one target audience, there are other companies who have a number of different target markets, and these companies will have to decide which audience they want to target with each specific ad.

After you have settled upon a target audience (or the audience you are wanting to target with a specific ad), you will be able to construct an ad that will appeal to this group; this is an extremely important step in the advertising process, as not every type of ad will appeal to every type of person, and you will want your ad to appeal to the audience you are going after.

And lastly, where you place your ad will be extremely important; regardless of whether you will be advertising on television, on radio, or online, you need to realize that there are certain places where you are more likely to run into your target audience, and these are the places where you need to put your ad.

When this is the approach you take in the planning and creation of your ad campaign, you will be well on your way to increasing the effectiveness of your advertisements – which, of course, means you will be well on your way to increasing the overall effectiveness of your business!

How To Resolve Workplace Conflicts

There is one thing in particular that we share with nearly everyone close to us at some point in our lives, whether that someone is a parent or sibling or is a wife or children, and this one thing is Conflict. But often we also deal with conflicts in the workplace, and these can be the most difficult conflicts to resolve. Because of the foundation of relationship we have with those close to us, we are typically more well-equipped to deal with familial conflicts. In the workplace, however, conflicts can become much more volcanic, as we can be dealing with people we hardly knew, or with people we wish we hardly knew! While there is certainly no cure-all that can solve and eradicate all workplace conflicts, there are a number of tips you can pick up that will help you to solve workplace problems, settling them in a calm and effective manner, before they blow up and injure all individuals involved.

There is one major mistake people make when trying to resolve conflicts, especially in the workplace, and this is the mistake of assigning blame. If you tell someone on your project team, "You don't do any work," they are far less likely to listen to you, and you are therefore far less likely to resolve the conflict, than if you express, "I feel like I am doing all the work."

A great approach to take in resolving conflicts is the "us versus the problem" approach. Instead of pitting two individuals against one another, the "us versus the problem" approach essentially says, "Yes, there is a problem, so let's identify it and work it out together. This is also a great way to avoid placing blame, as the problem becomes something both people are fighting against together, instead of something that is being ascribed to one person.

Finally, make sure you always think twice (maybe even three times) before involving your superiors in an argument. When you involve your superiors, it can quickly create bitterness between yourself and the coworker with whom you had conflict. Furthermore - no matter who is "right" and who is "wrong" - nobody looks good when a conflict gets taken to a higher-up.

Conflict resolution is often necessary, even if it is not always easy. Once you learn how to resolve your conflicts, you will be able to diffuse them before they get any worse.

Next, you are going to want to ask yourself what you can do in order to make sure your visitors will trust you; because there are sure to be so many sites similar to yours, trust will be a big factor, so think of any accolades, experience, or endorsements you have that will make people feel more comfortable choosing your site over another, and make sure these things are visible to all who visit your site!

Keep all these things in mind as you aim to build your website, and you are sure to experience a whole lot more success, as your site will stand out to those who visit, and will generate profits as a result.

How To Open A Store On eBay

Stories seem to crop up all the time about someone who someone knows who is making thousands of dollars each month selling items on eBay, and these stories always make it out to sound like making money on eBay is the easiest thing in the world; if you have ever tried to start a store of your own on eBay, however, you have probably found that it is a bit more complicated than these stories make it out to be - and that you need to gather a few more tips before you will be able to meet with success.

One mistake that a lot of people make is that they open up a store on eBay and only have a few items to sell; if you are simply wanting to unload a few items from your garage or attic, you can do this with a regular seller account, but if you are wanting to open and eBay store and make some serious cash, you will want to make sure you have a full inventory ready before you set up your store, realizing that the more items you have, the longer people will stick around to browse through your store, and the longer they stick around to browse, the more likely they are to bookmark your store and to tell others about it.

Discouragement also tends to set in when someone's store does not take off right away, and because of this, they do not pay as much attention as they should to the few sales that are being made; your early sales will be extremely important to your long-term success, as you will need to get a few positive reviews before you can start making more sales. Get in the habit during those first few sales of paying close attention to the sale - making sure the product is in good shape, shipping it out quickly, and even including a note to the person, in which you thank them for their their purchase - as this will ensure some ever-important positive ratings early on, and this will put you in the mindset of always taking good care of your customers as your eBay store starts to expand and business picks up.

And once you have these positive ratings, you will be ready to start expanding: get people to mention your store on twitter and facebook, ask people to mention it on their blog, and talk it up in person - and soon, you will be one of those success stories others are hearing about!

How To Get Started With Online Investing

Regardless of whether you have been investing for a long time and simply want to do something new by investing online, or are a brand-new investor getting started in the stock market for the first time, you are likely to start your online investing in the same place - and in order to get the most out of your online investing experience, there are a few things that will be important for you to know.

There will be a lot to wade through when it comes to choices for online investing firms, and before you make your decision of who you will go with, you will need to compare all of these - taking a look at the commission they charge, the tools they offer, and the experiences their customers have had; typically, you will have more in the way of investing tools and expert advice from a service that charges a higher commission, but there are actually some highly rated sites but have low commissions, so take the time to look around and find the fit is right for you!

Once you have selected the brokerage firm that you feel will be the best fit for you, it will be necessary for you to then fill out a basic application on their website; this application will pretty much just require your personal information, and should be a fairly easy process to go through.

After these steps are all taken care of, it will be time for you to figure out how much you want to start out with for your first wave of investing; every brokerage will have a different minimum that you must invest, but of course, your best bet would probably be to start out with a little bit more than what this minimum is, while also making sure that you are using an amount you feel comfortable risking.

And finally, the final step will be taking the time to do some research and study before you begin investing; this is the most important step of all when it comes to investing, as you are unlikely to achieve success with your investments if you have not done your research, so take the time to research, and then start investing well and enjoying the results!

Tips For Using Press Releases To Help You Grow Your Business

One of your keys to success when you have a business will be figuring out exactly what you can do in order to gain an edge over your competition - and of course, one of the best ways to do this is to engage in promotional efforts your competition is failing to engage in; many people think of press releases as something that all businesses do, but the truth is, many businesses neglect this form of promotion these days, which makes it a great opportunity for you!

The first thing that will be important for you to realize is that a press release helps you to get the word out there about your business, without it seeming like you are "selling" something to those who are reading the press release - and there is really no limit when it comes to the frequency with which you can use press releases to keep your business at the front of people's minds.

In order for you to successfully promote your business without making it seem like you are trying to "sell" something, you will want to make sure you are writing your press release in third person, and that you are taking a "neutral, but positive" approach in talking about the business and the topic at hand; in this way, you will engage the reader, while still remaining "neutral."

Finally, you will need to know what to do with a press release after you have written it; the main reason so many people fail to take advantage of press releases these days is the simple fact that press releases used to be primarily circulated through radio and print media, neither of which are as lucrative as they used to be - but nowadays, press releases can be circulated online by simply submitting your press release to a press release database, which will give your press release a broad reach!

Spend some time learning some of the keys that will help you to write good press releases - then start writing good press releases, and start growing your business as a result!

Exploring Three SEO Tips You Might Not Have Thought Of

When you are working to optimize your website for search engines, one thing that will be important is that you pay attention to all the little things you can do that will help; while most of your competition will be paying attention to the big things, adding these little things to your repertoire of SEO tricks will go a long way in setting your site apart - and bringing you extra traffic as a result.

One thing that you need to realize is your site will probably rank a lot more highly if search engines are "crawling" your site on a regular basis, and it is not very likely that search engines will crawl your site on a regular basis if you are never adding new content; if your site does not "have a reason" to add new content at least three times per week, consider adding a blog section to your site, and update this at least three days a week in order to increase your crawl frequency.

Regardless of whether you are running a website in order to promote your business or as a means to maybe make some money through the website itself, make sure you are always keeping your eyes open for the "little things" your competitors are missing - and take advantage of these as a way to gain an edge in the long run.

Establishing An Ethics Management Program In Your Business

As your business grows, it will become more and more difficult for you to personally manage and account for every employee in your organization - which is why it is so important for you to establish an ethics management program in your business. But even though you might be aware that it is necessary for you to institute such a program, you might not know exactly how you should go about doing this; if this is the case, read on for some tips on how to establish an ethics management program in your own business.

Some people try to do an orientation that deals with business ethics on the day they hire a new employee, and after this, they never do a thing to refresh the employees on the things they told them so long ago. One of the best ways to avoid this happening is to have set intervals during which you will enter them into a business ethics management program; these intervals should typically be something along the lines of "any time an employee is promoted" or "any time an employe is transferred to a new department."

Another mistake a lot of businesses make is trying to do ethics management programs on their own; instead, you should always hire a third party mediator or an independent auditor to give your employees everything they will need to know in the way of business ethics.

Finally, you should incorporate basic ethics management training into the everyday aspects of your business practices - and not only among your employees, but among yourself and those you work with as well. When you make all these things a normal part of your everyday routines and procedures, you will be able to ensure that everyone within your business understands their responsibilities as far as business ethics are concerned.

Having employees who have ethical business practices is important if you want to have a business that is successful, and that continues to be successful for the long haul! If you simply follow the tips listed, you will be that much closer to making sure the employees in your business are comporting themselves in the manner you would expect.

Tips For Building A Free Website

A lot of people are under the impression that they are going to have to spend big money if they want to build a website, as they will first have to pay for a server, and will then have to pay for a domain name, and will then need to pay big money for someone to do all the design work on the site for them, but while you can definitely spend big money in order to set up a website, it is also entirely possible to build a great website - that gains a lot of traffic - for absolutely nothing!

If you are wanting to build a free website, the first thing you will need to do is pick a host that you feel will suit you best; there are a lot of hosts that allow you to build a website with them for free - with Tumblr and Blogger being just a couple of examples - and after you have studied up on these sites a bit, you will be able to decide which host will provide you with the templates that fit your tastes and the tools that fit your needs.

After you have picked a host and have set up your site with them, you will be ready to pick a template; most of these free hosts provide their users with a great range of diverse templates - and best of all, you can usually customize these templates to a great degree, with nothing more than a few clicks of the mouse.

And once you have taken these first steps - picking a host, setting up your site, picking a template, and customizing your template - you will be ready for the final step, which is also the most enjoyable: populating this website with quality content!

The more effort you put into this website - creating content that is both unique and valuable - the more success you will achieve through this site, and soon you will realize that you made the right move setting up a free website, as you will be able to achieve the same results you would have achieved spending a lot more money!

Resolving Workplace Conflicts

Conflicts are a natural part of life - we deal with them with our parents, with our siblings, with our spouses, and even with our own children. But often we also deal with conflicts in the workplace, and these can be the most difficult conflicts to resolve. Because of the foundation of relationship we have with those close to us, we are typically more well-equipped to deal with familial conflicts. Workplace conflicts are often in danger of being far more explosive than those conflicts in the home, simply because they entail people who hardly know one another. While there is certainly no cure-all that can solve and eradicate all workplace conflicts, there are a number of tips you can pick up that will help you to solve workplace problems, settling them in a calm and effective manner, before they blow up and injure all individuals involved.

"Assigning blame" is one of the biggest pitfalls people fall prey to when trying to deal with all conflicts in general, and with workplace conflicts specifically. If you tell someone on your project team, "You don't do any work," they are far less likely to listen to you, and you are therefore far less likely to resolve the conflict, than if you express, "I feel like I am doing all the work."

When dealing with conflicts, an excellent approach is the "us versus the problem" approach. This approach essentially aims to allow both individuals involved in the conflict to work together against the problem, instead of the two individuals being pitted against one another. The "us versus the problem" approach is also a very good way for you to avoid placing blame (and for you to avoid having blame placed on you), because the two of you will be working together against the problem.

Finally, make sure you always think twice (maybe even three times) before involving your superiors in an argument. You can introduce bitterness into your relationship with your coworker very quickly when you involve someone else. Furthermore, no one looks good when a conflict is taken to a higher-up, no matter who is proven to be "right" or "wrong."

Conflict resolution might not be easy, but it is very often a necessary aspect of workplace life. Learn how to solve workplace conflicts, instead of fighting further and making them worse.
