How To Hire Good Employees
Chances are, you have - at one point or another - heard horror stories about nightmare employees. In fact, if it is your job to hire employees, it is likely that you have encountered one or two nightmare employees of your own. The reaction to nightmare employees can be to wonder, "How on earth did this person get to be this way?" But a better reaction would be the introspective one, asking, "Why on earth did I hire this person?" Of course, hiring is not just about avoiding the nightmare employee; it is also about hiring the employee who will become a prize of yours down the road. It is about uncovering those treasures who you can promote again and again, those employees who become key cogs in the machine of your company. How do you make sure you hire such employees? It is really quite simple. If you want to hire good employees, start at the resume. Begin by cutting out the unqualified applicants; it might be easy to just interview everyone, but in the long run it will save you time and headaches to narrow down your field. If you come across employees you are not sure about, don't just make a decision on a whim; after all, you might end up discarding a great applicant, or you might end up interviewing someone who is a big waste of time; instead of making a snap judgement, take the time to call these applicants. Finally, take the time to examine the attention the applicant gave their resume; an applicant with a sloppy resume is likely to become a sloppy employee. When it comes time for the interviews themselves, focus on the applicant's attitude and intelligence. Someone with fewer accomplishments but a good mind and a good attitude is more likely to do a great job for you than someone with lots of accomplishments and a bad attitude. Finally, during the interview, let the interviewee ask some questions. In this way, you can gain a greater understanding of the ways in which this person's mind works, and you can get to know them better. You can gain a greater understanding of the applicant as a person by doing this; after all, future "prize employees" are likely to have intelligent questions to ask now. Of all the elements that go into making a successful business run, hiring is among the most important. After all, it all begins with the employees; and if you are the one hiring the employees, it all begins with you.

What You Need To Know In Order To Do Your Own SEO
When you are using search engine optimization in order to propel your website higher in search engine rankings, one thing that will be extremely important will be that you understand all the basic things you need in order to succeed in search engine optimization; after all, if you are doing your own SEO work, you may not lose any money if your results are poor, but you will lose time – and when you are running your own business, time can be just as valuable as money! Just as you would if you were advertising in a more traditional manner, you will want to make sure you know exactly who you are targeting in your search engine optimization efforts; by understanding who you are targeting, it will be much easier for you to know what keywords to use, as you will be able to gain a greater understanding of what keywords your target demographic is likely to search in order to find you. Once you know who you plan to target, you will also be able to start narrowing down your options of keywords you can use; in picking keywords, you will want to take the time to make sure these keywords are both highly searched and low in the way of competition, as this will give you the greatest chance of moving higher up search engine rankings pages, and of bringing yourself new clients and customers as a result.
And finally, you should know that your website itself will be one of the most important things in your search engine optimization efforts; because so much of SEO is focused on the keywords you are using, many people fail to also pay attention to what will happen once people arrive at their website, but realize that you will still need an appealing website that provides good information so that those who visit your website will eventually become customers. It can sometimes take a while to learn all the search engine optimization basics that will be important for you to know, and to implement all these little things, but when you take the right approach, with this knowledge in mind, you will eventually see results, and your business will continue expanding because of this!

Tips For Making Money Off Of Antiques And Garage Sales
It always feels good when you are able to pick up an extra stream of income, and while many people tend to look for “conventional” ways to make money (which often leaves them wishing there were more available options as far as “conventional” ways go), you will probably have much better success looking for ways to make money through unconventional means. If you are wanting to keep an eye out for unconventional approaches by which you can make some extra money (or by which you can eventually even make a living!), one thing to consider is trying to make money through antiques and garage sales – but not through your own antiques and garage sales, either! Antique stores can sometimes seem as though they price things much higher than they should actually be priced – but the amazing thing is that a handful of the items in each of these stores (not all, but a handful!) are actually great deals compared to what the same items are fetching on such sites as eBay. If you want to make some money selling others' antiques, you should go antique shopping and see what catches your eye; once you have priced a number of items that you think might be worth reselling online, you can check on such sites as eBay to see what these items are selling for, and if they are selling for far more than the price at the antique store, you can purchase the item and resell it yourself! If selling items from the antique store can be likened to winning a small jackpot, buying and selling items from garage sales is like the meat and potatoes of income – you won’t make a ton at once, but you should always be able to get a steady influx of money. People who throw a garage sale are usually just moving or remodeling their house, and this means that they are less interested in making money than they are in getting rid of everything; because of this, you can often buy great items for anywhere from a quarter to a couple dollars, after you have stockpiled from garage sales, you can start listing these items online for whatever they will fetch – making several dollars of profit from every item!

Tips For Scoring High Praise At Work
At your job, one of the most important things will be that you understand how to do the things you need to do in order to score high praise; of course, one reason why you want to do this is because high praise from those above you is a great indication that you are doing the job you are supposed to be doing, but the other reason why scoring high praise is an important part of your job is that this can give you the energy and the drive you need in order to keep doing great work! Being willing to take on challenging assignments is one of the first things you need to do in order to score high praise at work; many people try to avoid the assignments that will be more difficult, but your higher-ups at work know which are the more difficult projects and assignments, and they will certainly notice if you are always the person volunteering to tackle these projects as others shy away from them. It will also be important that you are willing to work harder than what is expected of you when you hope to score high praise at work, as going over and above expectations will catch the eye of those above you - and even if you do not do a perfect job on a project or assignment, you will be given a bit more leeway if they see that you are always working as hard as you can to go over and above! And as you wait for your hard work to pay off, it will be important that you have a bit of patience; you will not always see the fruits of your labors right away, but as you continue plugging away and working hard, this will certainly be noticed in time, and you will be rewarded accordingly - with high praise, and with all the other things that come with this. Of course, in the end, you should truly be working as hard as you can at work simply for yourself, always knowing that you are doing the best job possible - but scoring high praise at work is certainly an added benefit of this hard work you put in, and in taking this approach, you will soon arrive at this desired end result!

Creating A Good Working Environment For Your Employees
If you want to get the most out of your employees, one of the biggest things you will need to make sure you do is give them a work environment that will be positive and will engender great behavior and hard work - but while just about every business owner is fully aware of this fact, actually making this a reality for your business (and for your employees) can be a bit more difficult; in your quest to create a positive work environment for your employees - and to experience success with your business as a result - here are a few things you can keep in mind to help you achieve this goal. One thing that you do not want is employees who are always frightened, as you might think that this will 'keep them from making mistakes,' but actually, it is more likely to cause them to make mistakes; one of the best ways to keep your employees from feeling frightened and nervous is to understand the value of positive reinforcement, as providing positive reinforcement to your employees will put them in a place where they can continue to do these same things for which you are praising them. In addition to recognizing the value of positive reinforcement, it will also help you to understand the value of competition; some business owners have a tendency to view competition in a negative light, but when you allow your employees to compete with one another, this will give them a greater sense of investment in their job, and it will put them in a position where all of them are constantly striving to do their best. And of course, you will need to understand the value of relaxation if you are hoping to create a great work environment for your employees; your employees can get burned out quite easily if you do not allow them to relax, so make sure they have enough time off from work, and make sure their work environment is not stressful! As you keep these goals in focus, you will continue to create a positive work environment for your employees - and they will continue to reward you with quality work!

Tips For Keeping Up Your Energy At Work
Many people who work a job that requires them to exert their bodies physically throughout the day imagine that it would be very nice and easy to instead work a job that allowed them to simply sit at a desk, as they think that such a job would in no way cause them to get tired because of the fact that their body would be allowed to simply sit and rest. But while it is true that your body does not get as tired when working a desk job, it is also true that your mind has a tendency to get more tired when you are working a desk job, which can make it far more difficult for you to stay awake throughout the day and continue to be productive. For this reason, it is useful to know some of the best ways to keep yourself awake while you are at work; of course, there are lots of different methods for doing this, but one of the best things for you to do in order to keep yourself awake at work is taking frequent breaks, as standing up and walking around and giving your mind a moment to rest will make it much easier for you to continue working hard for another long stretch. If you are sitting still all day, your blood will not be flowing as well, which is one of the main reasons why your mind will tend to get tired; in addition to taking breaks to walk around, you should also stand every once in a while – and the great thing about standing every once in a while is that you can still get your work done while standing at your desk! And finally, one of the most important aspects of staying awake while at work is preparing for work in advance, so always make sure you are getting enough food and water – as well as enough sleep – before you go into work, and make sure you bring enough food and water with you to work so these can carry you through the day! Follow these tips, and you will find that it is much easier for you to stay awake while at work – which will enable you to continue working hard throughout the entire day!

Being a major tool of your business is essential for your staff if you hope to be able to run it successfully without needing to be there. A staff that is at the center of a business plan is the focus that Collier presents and develops. Providing values to work by is probably the best way you can make sure your staff is successful. You will help guide them without needing to be on site with them is the purpose of instilling these values in your business. This is the final goal any small business owner should have. Collier writes 20 chapters that center around goals. The guidance that he provides focuses on a process of creating goals for your business, making a plan around them, and then carrying out the plan you create. A great base for success is the result of this three step process he lays out. A measurement of success will be taken once you can find out how well your business runs without you needing to be there. Soon you will be able to take time away without worrying every moment.

Things To Remember When Writing A Press Release
When you are writing a press release for your business, it will be important that you make sure you are taking the proper steps; after all, a press release can certainly be a valuable tool for your business, but if you are not writing your press releases properly, they will actually be nothing more than a big waste of time. When putting together a press release, it will be important for you to keep in mind the fact that most people do not want to spend a whole lot of time "getting to the point" when reading something; because of this, it is important that you use the first paragraph of your press release to "summarize" the press release (the way you would normally summarize a piece of writing at the end), so that readers know everything they are about to be reading, before they even read it! Once you have summarized the press release within the first paragraph, you can use the next few paragraphs to expound on the things you summarized - making sure that you are sticking to the point while focusing on creating interest throughout, always with the primary goal of "engaging the reader" at the front of your writing efforts. Finally, it will be important that you wrap up your press release nicely and properly; if you have followed the first two steps correctly, people will still be reading at the end of your press release, and you can create a call to action by providing positive information about your business, along with contact info (including your website URL, so readers can follow this to your site!). By taking these steps as you write your press releases, you will ensure great results - with lots of people reading your press release, and lots of people coming your way because of it - instead of ending up with a press release that turns out to be nothing more than a great big waste of time!

How To Stand Out At Your Job
You have probably heard the expression, "It's not what you know, but who you know." And when it comes to the business world, this quote is quite true. But rather than "who you know," in business it is "who knows you." If the right people do not "know" you, it just migt be the reason why you have not gotten that raise or that promotion that you feel you have worked hard enough to earn. If you want the right people to start to take notice of you, the first thing you need to learn is how to stand out at your job. There is a lot more to standing out at your job than just drawing attention to yourself. After all, a lot of forms of attention are nothing but negative attention, which will certainly not help you to get that raise or promotion. You need to figure out how to draw positive attention to yourself instead. By silently doing more than what is expected of you, you will be doing one of the biggest things possible for drawing positive attention your way. By doing more than what is expected of you, people will take notice. And when you are doing it silently, just going about your business and not calling for people to notice, people will not just take notice, but they will take positive notice! If you are working on a project team, make it your goal to do more work than anyone else. When you turn in a report to your boss that he requested, the report should go much further than he could ever have expected. You can also draw positive attention to yourself by always being at work early, and by always staying late. If you show up just fifteen minutes early and leave just fifteen minutes late every single day, it will not make a big dent in the other areas of your life, and people will surely take notice. Furthermore, if you examine a "typical day" closely, you will probably find at least thirty wasted minutes hidden in there somewhere! You can draw positive attention your way just by cutting out these thirty wasted minutes and using them for work. Is is very easy to get ahead at your job. You only have to make sure you are doing good work, and you have to make sure you are doing this good work in such a way that you are drawing positive attention to yourself.

Three Things To Get You Going In Making Money Online
"Making money online" is certainly an idea that appeals to a great number of people - but the fact that it appeals to a lot of people certainly does not mean that a lot of people know what they are doing in this area; in fact, the majority of people who try to make money online have no real clue what they are doing, and this means that you will be in a great position to pass them by if you pick up on some of the key points to making money online. The first thing that will be important is that you stick to the basics of search engine optimization, which means doing everything you can with keywords and tags on your site; when you do this, you will lay a good SEO foundation on your site, and will effectively let search engines know what they should be looking for as their robots scan your site. After you have gone through your site and applied these SEO basics, you will want to move off-site for another one of the most important search engine optimization aspects: backlinks; backlinks are the links from another site that point to yours, and because of how valuable backlinks are in regards to SEO, it will be worth it to make the effort to connect with other sites, and to try to stir up links as best you can. And finally, realize that you can connect with people even outside of search engine optimization through going to other people's websites and through creating a strong and active social media presence; this manner of "going to where the people are" will help you bring them back to your site, and will help you make more money. When it comes to making money online, traffic is the key to success - and while each successful online marketer ends up finding their own unique path and approach, these keys will help you to get started on the road to generating tons of traffic yourself!

Tips For Making Your Website Stand Out To Your Visitors
It is a common problem faced by people running a website in order to promote their small business or otherwise make money: they have put in a lot of work in order to appeal to search engines, and this work is paying off in the form of lots of additional traffic, but with all this extra traffic, they are finding that they are not making any extra sales; for those who face this issue, the problem often lies in the fact that their website itself does not stand out to visitors - so if you have dealt with this problem yourself, here are a few things to consider doing! Firstly, you will want to ask yourself what it is about your website that will make people love it - especially compared to the other options they have among sites that are similar to yours; if you are able to answer this question, make sure the things about your site that people will love stand out - and if you are not able to answer this question, figure out what you can change in order to be able to answer this question, and then make this stand out!
Next, you are going to want to ask yourself what you can do in order to make sure your visitors will feel comfortable trusting you; because there are sure to be so many sites similar to yours, trust will be a big factor, so think of any accolades, experience, or endorsements you have that will make people feel more comfortable choosing your site over another, and make sure these things are visible to all who visit your site!
And finally, it will help you quite a bit to figure out what there is about your site that will encourage people to keep coming back; when you are able to get people to keep coming back to your site, you will greatly increase the likelihood of them making additional purchases - and you will increase the likelihood of them sharing your site with others so that you gain new customers through them.
As you aim to build your website, keep all these things in mind, and you are sure to experience a whole lot more success, as your site will stand out to those who visit, and will generate profits as a result.

Keep Your Customers Coming Back For More
Anyone in business surely has learned the importance of making sure their customers keep coming back for more. No matter how many times you have heard it said that 80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers, it never hurts to hear it again (and again, and again!). This means that it is extremely important to keep this "20%" happy enough that they keep coming back for more, and it is important to convert new customers into repeat users! One area where a lot of businesses fail is by focusing too much on the new trying to get them in and trying to get them to come back. New customers are certainly important, but they are not your main source of profit, and so they should not be your first priority. There are several ways to keep your repeat customers happy, but the best way is to find out what they say! By getting to know your customers, you will get to know what their opinion is regarding your business. Find out what they like about the way you run things, and find out what they would like to see changed. A lot of large businesses avoid this step, thinking that it is impossible to get to know customers; and while this is true when it comes to getting to know them "individually," there are still such ways as customer surveys, customer service, and online response forms that will allow you to get to know what your customers are thinking. Once you have built a good foundation for keeping your current customers happy and loyal, you can begin to go after new customers. This is where advertising comes in handy, but the best way to keep these customers once they come to you is by creating loyalty! This is easy for small companies, as - again - you can get to know your customers as individuals, and your business will continue to grow! And if you are a large company, create a sense of familiarity and community with your new customers, and they will keep coming back. It is not difficult to make your business fail; but if you learn how to keep your customers coming back, it is also not difficult to succeed!

Tips For Using Your iPad For Work
One of the most popular products these days is the iPad, as it gives you a surprisingly natural way to interact with your "computer" by allowing you to hold it in one hand and use the touch screen to navigate - but in addition to its uses as a "toy" or a "diversion," many people find that the iPad is great for more productive things as well, such as work; of course, the iPad is great for work if you are able to use it for such, as it is much more compact and easy to transport (and easy to carry around!) than a laptop - but you must also realize that the iPad was not "designed" to be a work device, and because of this, there are a few things you will need to do in order to turn your iPad into something you can use for work. The first thing you need to realize is that typing on an iPad is altogether different from typing on an actual keyboard, and unless you are an extraordinarily slow typer, you will not be able to type nearly as fast on an iPad as you would be able to on a keyboard; because of this, one of the main things you will need, in order to turn your iPad into a "work device," is a bluetooth keyboard. It will also be important for you to realize that the iPad is not equipped with Microsoft Word - nor, for that matter, is it equipped with a similar word processing program; because of this, you will need to purchase a program in the app store that will allow you to type in the same way you would at your work computer - and while there are a lot of different apps available for this task, the one that many people find works best is Pages. And of course, you will need an intuitive way to share files across different computers - and while you can use email for this, this process can be made a whole lot simpler by having iCloud or Dropbox to naturally share files with hardly any effort on your part. And of course, you will need patience in order to use your iPad as a work device; it can be difficult to get used to this at first, but once you are used to it, you will realize that you are able to work from your iPad just as well as you can work from your regular computer!

Keep Your Customers Coming Back For More
If you are in business, you have surely learned the importance of keeping the customers you have already. No matter how many times you have heard it said that 80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers, it never hurts to hear it again (and again, and again!). This means that it is extremely important to keep this "20%" happy enough that they keep coming back for more, and it is important to convert new customers into repeat users! New customers are certainly important, but they are not your main source of profit, and so they should not be your first priority. Out of all the various ways by which you can keep your repeat customers happy, the best way is by finding out what they have to say. As you get to know your customers, you will also get to know their opinions regarding the things you are doing with your business. You can begin to go after new customers once you have made sure that you have built a foundation for keeping your current customers happy. Advertising is a great way to get new customers in, but advertising alone will not help you keep new customers; you need to also create a sense of loyalty. This is easy for small companies, as - again - you can get to know your customers as individuals, and your business will continue to grow! And for large companies, by creating a sense of community and familiarity with new customers, you will ensure that they will keep coming back. It is easy for businesses to fail, but if you learn how to keep customers coming back, it is just as easy to learn how to thrive as a business!

Tips For Writing A Winning Job Resume
Your job resume will be the first part of you that a prospective employer will ever see. With the economy and unemployment being what they are these days, you will find yourself competing against plenty of applicants when searching for a job. Due to this, you must understand the ways by which you can make your job resume stand out. Of course, on the surface, it might seem like the only thing you can really do is list your previous jobs and hope for the best. But you will be limiting yourself if you take this approach these days. Instead, you should write a resume that causes a prospective employer to feel like they have to call you; you can do this by learning to make your resume stand out. When writing your resume, it is extremely important to consider its design. This might seem like an odd place to begin - after all, you are applying for a job, not applying to be a document designer - but you have to consider the prospective employer's perspective. More than likely, they have been at their desk for what seems like ages, poring over a stack of resumes. According to studies, each resume gets about 15-20 seconds of attention the first time through the pile. You will not make tired eyes feel kind toward you if you fill the resume with small font and big, blockish paragraphs. Instead, you should make sure you leave lots of white space on the paper, designing it with clear headings. When tired eyes come across such a resume, it will seem like an inviting escape; you might even get them to spend more than 15-20 seconds on their first glance! The next step for setting you apart from other applicants is the section where you list your accomplishments and qualifications. Never fabricate this section, but make sure you dig deep to uncover things that might not have popped into your mind right away. Include anything that might help the prospective employer make a decision! Finally, your list of qualifications will be among the most important selling points of your resume. This is where you set yourself head and shoulders above your competition. Think of this section as an advertisement, where you tell the prospective employer all the reasons why they should "buy" you. Although searching for a job can be frightening in these uncertain times, knowing the steps to a winning resume can make it a whole lot easier.

Will I Be Able To Build My Own Website?
You need a website of your own if you want to have a business - or, quite frankly, if you want to sell anything at all! But a website is not free to build, and when you are trying to save up money for starting your business, it can be tough to spend extra on a website. Because of this, lots of people who are just starting their business want to know if they can build their own website. If you have ever wondered this yourself, the answer - believe it or not - is that you absolutely can build your own website, as long as you know a few things. If you want to build a website without spending a lot of money, you will need to first register a domain name. It can be relatively inexpensive to register a domain name (as little as $10 per year), so the toughest part is finding a domain name that will work for you. For anyone who has a unique name for their company (or who has a unique name of their own), this part is easy; it is when your desired domain name is already taken that it can take time! The next step will be finding a template that will enable you to pretty much set up and run everything on your own. Find a template such as a Wordpress template, and you will be able to make any changes or adjustments to your site that you want, whenever you want. And you will need to make sure you put in some time doing research if you have a desire to design your website on your own. If you want to have a lot of freedom in the way your website looks, you will need to make sure you first research some basic HTML coding; it's not very complicated, and it is very important! And the other bit of research you will need to do is make sure you find out as much as you can about the process of building a website. The book Learning Web Design is one of the best resources for this, and although it is a $45 book, it is only $25 on Amazon! You will be able to start building your website as soon as you know what you are doing - and what's more, you will be able to make it look exactly the way you want it to look!

How To Use Groupon To Grow Your Business
These days, it seems like Groupon is everywhere – with people always talking about it, with ads for Groupon always showing up online, and with many of your favorite restaurants or shopping stops offering great deals through Groupon – and if you own a small business of your own, you might have started wondering how you can use Groupon yourself. The process for signing up for and running a deal through Groupon is really a very easy, but setting up your deal in such a way that it is successful is a bit more complicated, so make sure you read this guide to help you get started! When some people run a deal through Groupon, they make the mistake of offering people something that is a “throwaway item,” but you need to realize that it is extremely important to offer something that people actually want; even if you only break even through the Groupon deal you are offering, this is still advantageous, as you will be bringing in new customers – many of whom will keep coming back! Another thing that will be very important is that you are fully aware of what day the Groupon deal is going up on the Groupon website, as there will be many people who want to call with questions; be prepared to spend the day by the phone the first couple days that the ad is up so that you can answer any questions that come in and can keep the purchases rolling! And if you have other deals in place as well when customers start coming in to use their Groupon coupon, it will go a long way in securing these new customers as regular customers; come up with some deals that will appeal to customers, and advertise them in your store, as this will stick in people's heads and make them much more likely to continue coming back so they can keep getting “great deals” from you!

How To Have Fun At Work
Most people dream of working a job that they truly enjoy, and one of the reasons why they "dream" of this is because the job they actually work does not fit this bill. But while it is true that there will be things about your job you will inevitably not enjoy, this would also be the case even if you landed your "dream" job, and once you realize this, it is easy to also start realizing that you can have fun in whatever job you work, as long as you decide to have fun and enjoy it - and in fact, you will also start to find that the more fun you have at work (the more you enjoy work!), the more productive you will be! Having fun at work can be as simple as making an effort to build relationships with the people with whom you work; lots of people go to work, do their work, and go home, without ever making an effort to get to know those around them, but when you become friends with your coworkers, going to work and seeing them each day will become much more enjoyable. Having fun at work can also be as simple as finding fun things that you can do while you are at work; for some people, this is listening to music, for others it is taking short breaks to work on a crossword puzzle, and for others it is simply getting up every once in a while and going for a walk. And finally, having fun at work is usually as simple as working as hard as you can; when you make it your goal to truly work hard, you will start to feel much more fulfilled with your job, and this will in turn make your job a whole lot more enjoyable. Although it is quite easy to wait for that "dream job" to magically float your way, it is nearly as easy to turn your current job into everything you wish for that dream job to be - and it is also much more rewarding!

Improving Your Business Through Social Marketing
Retaining a competitive edge is the main objective of almost every business. Many of the things you do are able to be duplicated by your competition. They can display the same marketing as you, open locations close to yours, and copy products and services you offer. Social marketing is the only true way for you to stay ahead of them in your line of business. A few different techniques are combined into one with social marketing and this allows it to be a consistent method. Marketing on the new social media sites is often what many people believe that social marketing involves. This is a misconception. The type of marketing they are thinking of is really named social media marketing; something different. Computers are not the sole way for businesses to socially market. The relationship you and your business have with customers is what the main concept of social marketing entails. This relationship needs to be nurtured in every way possible. One way to do this is through physical meetings with your clients. E-mails and social media sites can also be used to keep in touch online. Determine which of these methods is best to use after getting to know each customer. Nurture this relationship with customers at every opportunity and you will see that the rest will work itself out. The second part of this marketing method involves customers spreading the word about your business. Happiness with your business and the service you provide will lead to them talking with others. This will lead to many referral sales opportunities. Converting this referrals to sales falls solely on you. The best part about social marketing is that it has no cost. This type of marketing was done in ancient greece and other ancient cultures throughout history. Up until recently it never had a name for everyone to refer to. Social marketing should be at the center of your business marketing plan since the only cost involved is some extra effort on your part.

How To Move Up The Ranks In Your Business
If you run your own small business, you are already the “top dog” in the company, and you will simply need to turn your focus to “beating your competition” in order to have the most success you can; if, on the other hand, you are working within a company, you will need to not only focus on helping the company beat the competition, but will also need to know all the things you can do to outperform others at your level in order to gain promotions for yourself! In order to move up the ranks in a business, one of the best things you can do is to always show up at least a few minutes early, and to always leave at least a few minutes late; while in one sense this is simply a symbolic move that displays your commitment to the company, it will also put your in a position where you are always doing at least a little bit more work each day than what is “expected” of you.
As you take a few extra minutes each day to show up early and leave late, it will also be beneficial for you to make an effort to learn more about the business, the business landscape, and the competition than anyone else at your level is learning; take some extra time at home each day – even if it is no more than 15 minutes – to accumulate some extra knowledge. And one thing you should be aware of is the fact that an expansion of job responsibilities will often also entail an expansion of the number of people you are working with in some direct or indirect way, and because of this, it will be of great benefit to you if you are continually working to improve your people skills, as this will put your in a position to continue succeeding each time you are promoted. Getting promoted does not always happen quickly and automatically, but when you keep these things in mind, you will be able to increase the likelihood of being promoted, and will ensure that you are ready to succeed when that promotion comes.

Keeping Employees With Ethical Business Sensibilities
It will be fairly easy for you to keep track of your employees and make sure they are operating in an ethical manner if your small business is still fairly small; as your business grows, however, it will become more and more difficult for you to personally manage and account for every employee, and for this reason it is important for you to establish an ethics management program in your business, and while you might not know exactly how you should go about doing this, the good news is that it is actually quite easy to accomplish. Some people try to do an orientation that deals with business ethics on a new employee's first day, after which they never do anything to refresh the employee on all the things they were told that first day; realize, however, that employees are typically overloaded with information on their first day on a job, and because of this it will be important to set intervals during which you will enter them into a business ethics management program, with these intervals occurring when an employee is promoted or whenever they are transferred to a new department. Another thing to be aware of is the fact that ethics management training should not be conducted by the business itself, but rather, should be conducted by a third-party mediator or by an independent auditor; in this way, you will ensure that your employees are getting the most out of the ethics management training. And finally, you ought to be making an effort to incorporate basic ethics management training into the everyday aspects of your business practices, not only among your employees, but also within your own work; in making these things a big part of your everyday routines and procedures, it will be easy for you to ensure that everyone in your business understands what their responsibilities are as far as business ethics go. It is important to have employees who have ethical business practices, as this will help to ensure that your business will be successful and will remain successful, and when you follow these tips, you will be that much closer to making sure your employees are comporting themselves in the best possible manner!

Tips For Targeting Your Target Market
Advertising is one of the most important things you can do for your business in your constant quest for success. But of course, you have to know what your target market is before you can advertise. After all, if you do not know what your target market is, you will be unable to advertise in a manner that catches your target market's attention. Once you have figured out what your target market is, it is time for the next step: learning how to direct your advertising at your target market. You can know how to target your target market by following these simple tips. The quest for the perfect marketing approach begins by recognizing that consumers purchase a product to either satisfy a need, solve a problem, or make themselves feel good. You need to know why your specific, target market is going to be purchasing your product before you can advertise it effectively. Whatever is the purpose your product serves is the angle you will want to play up. The next step in targeting your target market effectively is this: learn how to break your target market down into smaller pieces, instead of looking at the whole. It's not easy to market to such a broad group when you simply narrow down your target market as "People between the ages of 18 and 34." For instance, is your target market typically affluent, or are they more likely to be middle-class? Are you selling your product to males or females, to married people or single people? Is your target full of blue collar workers, or is it full of white collar workers? These smaller pieces will go a long way in helping you understand exactly how to market your company and your product to your target market. Finally, you need to put in time doing research! A lot of businesses skip this step, deciding that they "know everything already," and they miss a lot of little things that could help them. The more research you do, the more effective you can make your advertising. A little bit of time in this area can go a long way toward achieving success. Of course, marketing is an important part of any business or company. But without effective marketing, the whole idea of marketing loses its importance completely! Instead, take the time to figure out what your target market is, and learn exactly how you should target them.

Tips For Hiring Great Freelancers
You will certainly put a great deal of emphasis on the idea of hiring the "right" employees for your company when you run a business, but you will also reach a point when you need to hire consultants or freelancers for projects (sometimes small projects, sometimes large), and it can be difficult to know if you are following the right steps to hire good workers. If you are running a business - regardless of whether it is a small business or a large business - here are a few tips you can follow in order to fulfill your desire of hiring the best people for the assignments you have. Have patience: When you have a time-sensitive project in hand, the temptation can be to post an ad on a job site and to hire someone from the first few freelancers who respond. It is also important, however, for you to remember that this project of yours is important; if you give it enough time, you will likely receive hundreds of inquiries regarding the job you have posted, and even though it will feel nice to "get it over with" and hire someone right away, it will be much better in the long run if you take the time to make sure you are putting the project in good hands. Look at the resumes: Any good freelancer will also have a freelance resume that they can send; unless you are unable to pay for an experienced freelancer, you should make sure you take the time to look over these resumes, setting aside the resumes that display experience and a history of good work. Ask for samples: A great way to narrow down the "applicants" for a freelance job is to ask for samples of their work, but an even better way (perhaps the best way of all) is to ask them to create unique samples, off of an assignment you give them. When you take this final step, you will be able to truly discern which of the qualified applicants are the right applicants for you, and for the job in question.

Tips For Exchanging Reciprocal Links On Your Website
When you are conducting some search engine optimization on your website, one thing you will probably be doing is looking for different ways by which you can take advantage of the manner in which search engines work - and once you understand that backlinks (that is, links from another site that point users to your site) are among the most important elements of SEO, this may lead you to start doing some reciprocal links - where you link to another site in exchange for a link back to you - but while this can be a beneficial SEO trick, it can also hurt your website if you do not do it right! Know who is linking to you: If you have a website that is fairly high-ranking, and you are exchanging a reciprocal link with a site that is brand new, or that is not high-ranking at all, you will still be helping them, but they will not be helping you at all; furthermore, you will not receive any help through a reciprocal link if you are exchanging links with a site that is deemed by search engines to be irrelevant to yours. Know who you are linking to: While links from a poorly-ranked site will not hurt your search engine ranking, you should know that it is possible to hurt your search engine ranking by linking to "unsavory" sites; if a website has lots of spam on it, or if it is overflowing with pop-up ads, or if the content on the site is offensive, linking to this site will actually hurt your standing with search engines rather than helping you! Pay attention to anchor text: The anchor text (that is, the text that this "partner website" is turning into a link) will also make a difference in whether or not the reciprocal link helps; the best way to reciprocate links is to tell the other person what you want the anchor text to say, as this will allow you to make sure that the anchor text contains keywords that are relevant to the page being linked to, which will cause the link to have more weight with search engines. SEO can be complicated at first, but once you begin to understand the little things such as this, you will be in much better shape to boost your placement on search engine rankings pages!

Tips For Conducting Effective Giveaways
If you want to start gaining extra customers for your business, one of the best things for you to do is start conducting giveaways, as this is an excellent way to sacrifice a little bit of inventory (or time) in order to gain a lot of exposure; before you conduct a giveaway, however, you need to make sure you are going about it the right way. One mistake a lot of businesses make when conducting a giveaway is that they give away something that is "convenient" or "easy" for them to give away, but that is not necessarily something that any of their customers want; rather than giving away an item that most customers might themselves see as a "giveaway" item, you should give away something your consumers will actually desire, as this will help the contest become a success. A giveaway should always involve participation from your customers (and prospective customers) in some way, but this does not mean that you need to make their participation difficult or an "obstacle"; instead, you should always aim to make their participation something that will be both fun and easy, as this will encourage them to participate! If you want your giveaway to be a success, you need to have people who will help you spread the word, and because of the fact that people are busy with all the things going in in their own lives, it is sometime difficult to get people to take this step and help out. The best way to get people to help you spread the word about the contest far and wide is to incentivize the "spread the word" aspect; one way to incentivize this aspect is by having a separate giveaway that each customer is entered into when they spread the word about the first giveaway on such social media sites as Twitter and facebook. When you run a contest in such a way, you will be able to gain plenty of new customers, and the only money you will need to spend on this form of advertising is the loss of a small amount of your inventory or time - which is a tradeoff that is definitely well worth it!

Gaining The Respect Of Your Employees
It is easy to look at everything on paper when you are running a business - determining all the things you need to do in order to achieve success in a theoretical sense - but this approach can lead to a sort of nearsightedness that causes the business itself to fail (even though everything "on paper" looks right), and one of the main reasons that this can end up being the case is because looking at things on paper can cause you to forget about the people involved; if you want to achieve success with your business, it will be absolutely vital that you understand how to first gain the respect of your employees. One mistake a lot of small business owners make is that they want to be friends with their employees, imagining that if they joke around with them and are friendly with them, these employees will work hard out of a relative sense of duty, but this approach rarely succeeds; if you want your employees to respect you, you will need to start out by establishing authority, even when this is difficult to do. After you have begun to establish authority - setting yourself up as the "boss," and making it clear that work is the most important thing in your relationship with these employees - you can move onto the next step of being friendly with your employees, even being willing to joke around and have fun with them; at the same time, however, you will need to realize that there is a certain point of "true friendship" that you may never be able to achieve with your employees, as you will need to keep a certain measure of space between them and you in order to maintain a sense of "respect." And of course, you will want to observe the proverbial "golden rule" of 'doing unto others as you would have them do unto you'; treat your employees with respect at all times - never viewing them as a means to an end, but rather, viewing them (and treating them) as valuable assets - and they will return this attitude to you. There is plenty more that goes into the success of a business than just what is seen on paper - and when you build to a place where you have the respect of your employees, you will be one step nearer to this success.

Tips For Providing Good Customer Service
When you have a business, one of the most important things in order for you to achieve success will be for you to treat your customers well; after all, customers have plenty of choices when it comes to who they will give their time and money to, and if you are not careful, it will be easy for you to fall out of favor with them - but while it is quite easy to understand exactly why good customer service is important, it can be much more difficult at times to know exactly what you should aim to do in order to provide good customer service. When a customer comes into your store (or even when they call you - or even when they visit your website!), you will obviously hope for them to make a purchase, but one thing you will want to make sure of is that you do not harass them in your efforts to nudge them in this direction; learn to help your customers as much as they need, but to do so in such a way that they do not feel that you are "pushing" them to buy. Another big part of having success in business (even though this might seem counterproductive on the surface!) is that you make it easy for people to make returns and exchanges; a lot of times, customers will end up with the wrong product through no fault of their own, or will end up with a product that is defective, and when you are able to build a reputation with customers of being a place that works with them when this happens, they will be far more likely to turn your way when it is time to shop. And always giving your customers a place they will want to come back to will be the biggest thing of all for customer service, and this means treating them with respect and always making them feel welcome each time they step into your store. As you go through all the things you will do in order to have success in business, make sure you keep customer service in mind - always realizing that this is as important as anything else when you want your business to thrive.

Is A Business Degree Right For Me?
If you will soon be heading off to college - or if you are already in college and are trying to decide what you want to major in - one of the degrees that will probably stand out to you as a 'good, solid choice' is a business degree. After all, 'business' covers so many areas, and even if you do not know what you want to do after college, there is a good chance you will be able to use a business degree to help you get there - right? Actually, it turns out that a business degree might not be as useful as it used to be - and here is why. Business has become the major chosen by students who do not know exactly what they want to do when they finish college, and in addition to there already being lots of people interested in business, this creates a situation where large numbers of students are in every single class. Because the professors who teach these classes teach several classes each week - and because all of these classes have a large number of students - these professors are unlikely to hand out any "writing" assignments that are terribly difficult; which has been proven lately to be a mistake, as companies are looking to hire employees who know how to write! If you are truly interested in business, a business degree can still be a valuable thing to have - but you should seriously consider pairing your business degree with a degree in another area of study that will require you to do a lot of writing in order to obtain a degree. Even though such majors as English, History, or Philosophy have long been seen as degrees that do not have much practical application in "the real world," the starting income for those who have such degrees is actually higher these days than for those with business degrees - so as you choose your major, you should keep this fact in mind!

Using Social Media To Promote Your Business
One of the greatest tools at the disposal of any business these days, in order to help them promote their business, is social media, but when it comes to social media, one issue many people face is that they do not know how to use it to their advantage in an optimal manner, and because of this, they do not get nearly as much out of social media as they should be able to. That you should use social media to interact with with customers and potential customers is the first (and perhaps greatest) rule of social media; the main reason social media is so popular is because it gives people a great way to connect and interact with others - not because it gives them a great way to get something sold to them - so meet people at their desires by using social media as a tool for interaction! Another reason why social media is so valuable for businesses is because it makes it easy for people to share information; although you will be using social media primarily to interact with people, there will be times when you use it to share important or useful information with those who you are connected with - and when you do this, you should also encourage these people to use their social media presence to share this information with others! And finally, try to figure out ways by which you can incentivize sharing - such as random drawings held for those who have spread the word through social media - and you can use your website as well as social media to let people know about these opportunities; in this way, you will increase the chances that people will share your site with others, and will thereby increase the effectiveness of your social media efforts. Keep these tips in mind as you work on social media as a means to drive your business forward, and soon you will find that the results you desire are coming along as well!

Helping Your Website Through Off-Site Factors
In search engine optimization, there are two main categories of things that influence the way in which search engines view your website: on-site factors, and off-site factors; of course, on-site factors are the things that you control directly - the things that are on your very own site - that will have a bearing in your search engine ranking, whereas off-site factors are the things that are less within the realm of your control, but one thing that will be important for you to realize about SEO is that you still can influence some of your off-site factors, even if you cannot control them completely! Backlinks (that is, links from another site that point people to your site) are one of the big things that will have an influence over your search engine ranking, and while you cannot always control how many links you receive or where your links come from, one thing you can do to influence your backlinks is reciprocal links - which is where you and another site decide to link to one another, in order to help both of you! Another method for creating backlinks (and for creating extra exposure) is using social media to share your site - and while this does not carry nearly as much weight as it used to (largely due to the fact that this aspect of SEO was abused when it was weighted more heavily), it will still give you a small boost, and what's more, this small boost will be come much bigger if you can get lots of others to link to your site as well! Finally, realize that you can link to your site from other sites of yours; of course, search engines are smart enough to realize when you are simply linking from one site of yours to another, but if you have built your sites to a place where they rank highly with search engines, you can get away with doing this every once in a while gaining a small boost in your search engine rankings as a result! Don't be fooled by the idea that "off-site" factors are out of your control; you may not have as much influence over off-site factors as you do over on-site factors, but there are still things you can do to help your off-site factors work for you!
