Keep Your Customers Coming Back For More
If you are in business, you have surely learned the importance of keeping the customers you have already. No matter how many times you have heard it said that 80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers, it never hurts to hear it again (and again, and again!). This means that it is extremely important to keep this "20%" happy enough that they keep coming back for more, and it is important to convert new customers into repeat users! One of the big ways in which businesses fail is by focusing too much on gaining new customers rather than focusing more on the customers they already have. New customers are certainly important, but they are not your main source of profit, and so they should not be your first priority. Out of all the various ways by which you can keep your repeat customers happy, the best way is by finding out what they have to say. As you get to know your customers, you will also get to know their opinions regarding the things you are doing with your business. Find out what they like about the way you run things, and find out what they would like to see changed. Although large businesses are unable to get to know their customers as individuals, there are still a lot of ways for them to "get to know" their customers; of course, good customer service is one way, but also consider having customer surveys and online response forms. You can begin to go after new customers once you have made sure that you have built a foundation for keeping your current customers happy. Advertising is a great way to get new customers in, but advertising alone will not help you keep new customers; you need to also create a sense of loyalty. This is easy for small companies, as - again - you can get to know your customers as individuals, and your business will continue to grow! And for large companies, by creating a sense of community and familiarity with new customers, you will ensure that they will keep coming back. It is easy for businesses to fail, but if you learn how to keep customers coming back, it is just as easy to learn how to thrive as a business!
