Paying Someone For Pictures To Promote Your Business

Using a camera is one of the easiest things for anyone to do; after all, most cameras require you to do nothing more than point and click. But assuming that "pointing and clicking" is the only thing you need to know in order to take good pictures is as silly as someone assuming that they only need an item to sell in order to run a successful business! Any business that needs pictures for print ads, billboards, business cards, their website, or anything else would be wise to hire a professional photographer instead of trying to take the pictures themselves.

It can be tricky to find a professional photographer who will do a good job for you without costing you a fortune. One important thing to do, in order to make sure you are spending your money well, is to hire someone who has worked successfully with other businesses. It is one thing for a photographer to be good at composing and taking pictures, but it is something altogether different for them to be an expert in a particular area. The best thing to do in order to find a photographer who will be able to take great pictures for you is to ask around. Pay attention when you look at print ads and billboards for other local businesses; when something catches your eye, remember it. Most businesses will happily help you out if you call to find out who they used for the pictures in an ad of theirs.

Another important thing to do is to make sure you have a solid idea of what you want to do with the pictures. After all, you can hire the best photographer in the world, but if their idea of how the pictures should look is different from yours, you will not be happy! You can allow the photographer to take over after you have formulated a plan and given them the parameters within which they are working.

Most of us know that it is important to know how to delegate in order to be successful in business, but it is easy to forget that this does not just mean delegating to employees. It also includes knowing exactly when you should delegate to those outside your business, and knowing how to do this!

How To Make Your Way Online As An Entrepreneur

If you are a small business owner or working in some sort of entrepreneurial capacity, there is a good chance you took this step in your career because you wanted to eventually be able to work fewer hours while making more money than you were making before; while this is certainly something any small business owner or entreprenur can attain, however, this tends to end up being the opposite of reality for most entrepreneurs and small business owners - and this is largely because they do not know the steps they need to take in order to dominate online.

The first step you need to take in order to dominate online as an entrepreneur is that you use search engine optimization to dominate search engines; some people simply use SEO as a means to gain a bit of extra exposure on search engine rankings pages, but when you take the time to learn all the ins and outs of SEOs, you can cause your site to gain a top ranking, and to gain tons of new traffic as a result!

On top of making sure you learn the ins and outs of SEO so that you can take full advantage of its power, you will want to use social media to get people to swarm to your site; social media is a great way to connect with people you would otherwise never be able to come in contact with - and these connections can often lead to a great boost in profits for you.

And finally, you should understand that your website will not do you much good - unless you have this site optimized for sales; do not be shy to make it obvious that your site is in place in order for sales to be made, as this will enable you to make a lot more sales to the people who come your way!

Realize that small business and your entrepreneurial efforts are games that can certainly be won - and you can be the one to win in them when you understand how to take the right approach, and when you implement this right approach in your efforts!

How To Bring New Customers To Your Business

If you want your business to stay alive, the most important thing for you to realize is that 90 percent of your business is likely to come from ten percent of your customers, and because of this, you will want to do everything you can to show your current customers that you care about them and are loyal to them, as this will keep them around for the long run - but if keeping your current customers is the most important thing to keeping your business alive, the next most important thing is that you know how to bring new customers your way as well.

One of the best ways to bring new customers your way is to offer deals that will get these customers in the store; when you offer a great deal - running some sort of promotion for a few days or even a week - you will find a lot of new people milling about in your store, and even though not all of them will become long-term customers, many of them will!

The manner in which you advertise will also be a big part of attracting new customers your way; when you advertise, the biggest thing of all will be that you get the name of your business in the heads of potential customers, as planting your name in their head will make it that much more likely in the long run that they will turn to you when they need whatever it is that you are selling or providing!

And in the same vein as "keeping your current customers happy," you should realize that word of mouth is the greatest advertisement of all; when you keep your current crop of customers happy, they are far more likely to say good things about your company to everyone they know - and these people to whom they talk about your company will naturally be that much more likely to visit you down the road.

When it comes to attracting new customers to your business, there is no perfect formula, but by following these tips, you will be on the right path - which will place you on the right path for continued success!

Tips For Writing A Job Resume That Works

The job resume you send out to the prospective employers for whom you feel you might be a match will be one of your greatest tools when you are looking to land a job, but one thing you will need to realize, when you are sending out a resume, is that there will be a lot of competition for any job for which you are applying, and in order to rise to the top amongst this competition, your resume will need to do more than simply list the jobs you have worked at before and the education you have accumulated, but will instead need to function as a tool that "sells" you to this employer!

The formatting of their resume is one thing that a lot of people neglect, as they never think about the fact that the way their resume looks will make a big difference in the way their resume is perceived; rather than simply using a "resume template" in Microsoft Word, look around for some creative ideas of how to make your resume stand out, and even consider hiring a resume expert who can help you to craft and create the perfect-looking resume.

Of course, once you have gotten this prospective employer to give your resume a serious look based on the visual appeal of the resume itself, you will also want to give them something on which they can hang their hat by listing more than just your previous work, but by also listing your strengths and making it apparent that you just might be the right person for the job opening they have - creating a call to action with your resume, instead of simply giving them a dull piece of paper to read!

And finally, you need to make sure you know that just because you have come up with a great resume does not mean this is the exact resume you should send out to each place to which you apply; if you are applying for a number of jobs, tailor your resume a bit to make sure it fits for each particular job, as this will increase the likelihood that you will appeal to one of them.

It can be difficult to get hired, but when you know how to craft a resume that works, it can be a whole lot easier - and by keeping these tips in mind, you will be well on your way to crafting a resume that works!

Hiring Hard-Working Employees

Hiring people who will help your business to run well will be one of the biggest things about running a business; after all, you are essentially putting the reputation and the wellbeing of your business in others' hands when you hire people, and while it is impossible to monitor your employees at all times (and while no one in their right mind would even want to do this!), it is possible to ensure that the employees you have will represent your business well, as long as you know how to hire hard-working employees.

Too many businesses nowadays fail to grasp the fact that the struggles of the economy make it easier for them to find truly talented employees, and the first step to finding such employees is getting the word out so that people know you have a job opening available; when you make sure as many people as possible know about your job opening, you will ensure the greatest number of "great candidates" applying for the job.

The first thing you will want to do is narrow down the prospective employees based on resumes, of course, but you should also make sure you are willing to interview all the employees you are on the fence about; after all, it is better to take some extra time and make sure you are getting an excellent employee than to make a quick decision and wind up with someone you wish you had not hired.

And have a clear picture of how your interviews will be structured before you bring interviewees in for their interviews, and know what you are looking for - as far as answers go - from the people you are interviewing; when you do this, you will be able to guarantee that you are getting the most out of the interview process, instead of putting yourself in a position where you are "flying blind" as you try to select a new employee.

You will be able to ensure that the people you are hiring will be hard workers as you follow these tips, and you will help your business continue to grow - and these things will pay off in a big way as their time with you lengthens!

The Benefits Of A Bilingual Business

You must become adept at adjusting to the ever-changing business culture if you want to reach the top (or, if you want to stay at the top). One of the big ways businesses can adjust is by becoming bilingual or even multilingual. A lot of American businesses have fallen behind, as companies in other countries continue to add new languages to their plates; in fact, in most non-English-speaking countries, the focus in their businesses has turned to English to enable them to compete in America. If you are a business executive, a small business owner, or even a small-time employee in a big corporation, you can benefit from making yourself and your business bilingual.

For business executives, the explanation here is simple. For a business executive, the expectation is for them to be the best at what they do. Just because you have reached the top does not mean that you are guaranteed to stay there; after all, if you are not continuing to improve, someone else is! Add an extra language to your arsenal, and you will find that the scope of your overall power expands as the scope of your communicative powers expands. Furthermore, this expansion of your linguistic prowess will help you to communicate with customers and employees, and will allow you better footing in encouraging your employees to do the same.

Sixty per cent of small businesses are dead within four years of their startup date; this number jumps to 90% by year ten. Every advantage you can find when running a small business can be a big deal, and becoming bilingual is a big advantage!

You might think you have no real need to learn an extra language if you are just a regular employee in a big corporation. If you are thinking this, however, you are wrong! There will always be greater opportunities for advancement among those employees who can speak more than one language, and this is especially true as businesses progress to become more multilingual. The present might not yield you much fruit for your efforts, but you will surely see the payoff sometime down the road!

You should now find yourself equipped with the motivation you need for learning a new language; this is the first step! As for the dedication and the time you will need in order to learn a new language, it will be up to you to provide each of these.

Tips For Vacationing In Florida

If you are thinking of going on a vacation with your significant other or with your family, one thing that may have come to mind is all the wonderful, exotic places outside the United States that you would like to someday explore - but while it would be wonderful to be able to visit all these places, money will often stand in the way; not to worry, however, as there are plenty of wonderful vacation destinations right here in the States that are worth keeping in mind, and if a warm, laid-back climate is the perfect vacation fit for you, there are especially plenty of places in Florida to choose from.

One of the best options in the States if you are looking for a busy, eventful vacation is Orlando, Florida, as you will be able to spend your days at Disney World and your evenings hanging out at the restaurants and bars that the city of Orlando is full of; furthermore, there are some great beaches in Orlando, in case you want to get away from Disney World for a day or two, and because of the great waves of tourists that are always making their way through the city, there is always something fun to do.

If, on the other hand, you prefer a place that is still inviting for tourists, but that is less crowded and a bit more laid-back than Orlando, think about heading over to the Gulf side of the state and spending a few days hanging out in Sarasota; Sarasota is known as much for its art galleries as for its beaches, and a few days here will certainly go a long way in helping you to unwind and relax.

And if you want to truly get away from it all - from not only the crowds of Orlando, but from even the sparse tourists of Sarasota - consider getting offshore and hanging out for a few days on Saint George Island. For a surprisingly good price, you can rent a house or a condo on this island, and this will give you the chance to spend some time relaxing on a quiet beach, watching the dolphins that frequent these shores, and replenishing your mind and body in the sun and quiet of this lovely slice of Florida.

Getting Along With Others On Your Project Team

If you are on a project team at work, nothing can be worse than finding that you do not get along with the others. Especially if this project will be lasting for a while, and if you will be with these people each day, it is vital that you get along with them. In fact, you can follow these tips to get along with even the worst of them - without actually liking them at all!

One of the first things you need to make sure you recognize is that it is not always necessary for you to prove that you are right. This can be especially difficult if you are on a team with a "know-it-all" who tends to frequently be wrong, but it is important to keep in mind nonetheless. As you begin to realize that it is not always necessary to prove you are right, you will also begin to realize that there will be a lot of times during a project when the team is wrong about something that actually has no bearing on the project. In this way, you need to learn to correct the rest of your team only when it is absolutely necessary - in essence, picking your battles.

You will likely encounter conflicts and frustrations with the way some of the others on your team work, and picking your battles extends to these situations also. In the end, if you only assert your strong opinions on a matter when it is actually important to do so, it will be better for both yourself and the project. It is often difficult to "be the bigger man," especially when you are around the same people every day; but in the long run, this will pay off.

If others on your project team try to take credit for work that they did not actually do, being the "bigger man" extends to this as well. In the end, your superiors are likely to recognize who has truly done the best work; after all, if you have noticed, they will notice as well!

Being on a project team can be about more than completing the project well; it can also be about simply surviving to the end! You will be able to not only survive to the end when you follow these tips, but you will also be able to thrive!

Running Your Small Business from a Distance

Running into problems is an issue small business owners constantly deal with. Most of these are very consistent across the board regardless of the type of business that they own. One of the biggest issues is with hiring; trustworthy and hard working staff is something that is difficult to find. If they cannot find high quality staff to work with they will find that the result mean they will end up spending much more time at their business than imagined. This leads to the work-life balance being completely ruined for them.

A book that focuses on restoring this work-life balance for business owners who need it is titled How to Succeed as a Small Business Owner and Still Have a Life. If you cannot enjoy some quality time away from your business then there is no joy in having one that is successful. Your small business should help make your personal life more enjoyable and not to eliminate it. The intention of this book by Bill Collier was to provide guidance on a small business that can thrive without the owner being around.

Running a successful business while enjoying time away from it will only be possible with a staff that is the major tool of your business. A staff that is at the center of a business plan is the focus that Collier presents and develops. One of the best ways to ensure their success is to provide them with values. If you run your business by a strong set of values you will be able to help guide your employees without actually being with them. Any small business owner should make this a ultimate goal of theirs.

Collier writes 20 chapters that center around goals. He will guide you on setting these goals, planning accordingly to help achieve them, and to execute the plans you come up with. This three step process should provide you with a great base for success. A measurement of success will be taken once you can find out how well your business runs without you needing to be there. After some time you won't be constantly worrying when you are away from it.

Resolving Workplace Conflicts

Conflicts are a natural part of life - we deal with them with our parents, with our siblings, with our spouses, and even with our own children. But the most difficult conflicts to resolve are usually not those we have with the people close to us, but are the ones we have in the workplace. When we deal with conflicts in the home, we are better equipped to handle them because of the foundation of relationship we have with these individuals. Workplace conflicts are often in danger of being far more explosive than those conflicts in the home, simply because they entail people who hardly know one another. There is no magic elixir that can make workplace conflicts go away completely in an infallible manner, but there certainly are specific things you can do that will enable you to diffuse workplace conflicts before they spin out of control, no matter how close they are to spinning out of control already.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when dealing with conflict, especially in the workplace, is assigning blame. If you tell someone on your project team, "You don't do any work," they are far less likely to listen to you, and you are therefore far less likely to resolve the conflict, than if you express, "I feel like I am doing all the work."

The "us versus the problem" is an especially positive approach to take when dealing with conflicts. This approach essentially aims to allow both individuals involved in the conflict to work together against the problem, instead of the two individuals being pitted against one another. The "us versus the problem" approach is also a very good way for you to avoid placing blame (and for you to avoid having blame placed on you), because the two of you will be working together against the problem.

Finally, make sure you always think twice (maybe even three times) before involving your superiors in an argument. You can introduce bitterness into your relationship with your coworker very quickly when you involve someone else. Furthermore, even if you are in the right and your coworker is in the wrong, no one looks very good when a conflict is brought to the boss.

Conflict resolution might not be easy, but it is very often a necessary aspect of workplace life. Learn how to solve workplace conflicts, instead of fighting further and making them worse.

Tips For Writing A Winning Job Resume

Your job resume will be the first part of you that a prospective employer will ever see. With the economy and unemployment being what they are these days, you will find yourself competing against plenty of applicants when searching for a job. This stiff competition makes it important for you to understand how to make your job resume stand out. The method of "listing your previous jobs and hoping for the best" used to work just fine. But in so doing, you will be limiting yourself greatly. Rather than doing this, you need to learn how to write a resume that stands out - one that causes a prospective employer to feel like they have to give you a call.

One of the most important elements of your resume is its design. Although this might seem like an odd starting point for your resume (after all, it's not as if you are applying to be a document designer), you will understand if you consider the prospective employer's perspective. More than likely, they have been at their desk for what seems like ages, poring over a stack of resumes. According to studies, each resume gets about 15-20 seconds of attention the first time through the pile. You will not make tired eyes feel kind toward you if you fill the resume with small font and big, blockish paragraphs. Instead, you should aim to design your resume in such a way that it sports clear headings and lots of white space. You might even encourage the tired eyes to spend more than 15-20 seconds on their first glance at your resume if you make it inviting and relaxing for them!

The next step for setting you apart from other applicants is the section where you list your accomplishments and qualifications. Dig deep, and uncover things that you might not have thought of immediately; never fabricate this section, but certainly take your time to remember as much as you can. If anything seems as though it might be useful to them in making a decision (especially a decision that will lead them closer to you), include it!

Finally, your list of qualifications will be among the most important selling points of your resume. This is where you set yourself head and shoulders above your competition. Think of this section as an advertisement, where you tell the prospective employer all the reasons why they should "buy" you.

While job searching in these uncertain times can be frightening, it can become a lot easier when you follow these steps and write a winning job resume.

Tips For Boosting Your Sales During Christmas

More than likely, you are fully aware of the fact that people tend to spend more money during Christmas than they do at any other time of year, and if you are running a business, one thing you will want to do is figure out how you can maximize this opportunity for yourself; of course, while this seems simple in theory, you also need to realize that every other company is likely thinking the exact same thing, and your goal will need to be figuring out how you can attract customers your way even better than those other companies are!

A great way to get people into your store is with giveaways and contests, but the main thing you need to realize about running giveaways and contests is that the Internet is your best friend; rather than running a contest in your store, come up with a contest that you can run using facebook and Twitter, and incentivize spreading the word, as you will be able to simply set up the contest and then allow others to spread the word for you!

Having a Christmas blowout sale is one thing that a lot of companies will be doing, and while this is certainly a great idea to consider yourself, you will want to keep a few specifics in mind in order to maximize these efforts: firstly, you will want to have the sale over a short period of time rather than stretching it out over weeks, secondly, you will want to advertise aggressively so that people know you are having the sale, and thirdly, you will want to make sure you are discounting items people will actually want, as this is more likely to drive crowds your way!

And sometimes, working with another store is one of the best ways to boost your sales during Christmas. You can do this by providing advertising space for each other in your own store, or even by coming up with some sort of promotion - such as "a receipt from one store gets you 5% off your next purchase at the other" - as this will keep business booming for both of you!

How To Run Promotions That Work

When you are running a business, one of the most important things involved will be that you figure out ways to get customers into your store; of course, there are many ways by which you can go about doing this, but one of the best things you can do in order to get customers into your stores is to run promotions - and of course, if you are running promotions, you will need to make sure you know how to run promotions that actually work.

One mistake many companies make when running promotions is that they give customers things that they will not actually want - that is, giving them “throwaway items” - but you must realize that you will need to make sure you are giving your customers something they will actually want if you want to get them into your store with your promotion; think of yourself when you are running a promotion, and make sure you are only giving away something that you yourself would actually want to receive from a store!

Another thing you should realize is that the things you give away in a promotion do not necessarily have to be from you or your store; one of the best ways to make a promotion work is to give away a large gift card to a website lots of people use, such as Amazon or iTunes, as this will give everyone a product they are familiar with, and will in turn give them the drive they need to take part in the promotion.

And one of the big things when you are running a promotion for your business will be that you pay close attention to what is working and what is not working; as the promotion moves along, be willing to always tweak your approach - enhancing the things that are working well, and getting rid of the aspects of the promotion that are not working at all.

The more often you run promotions with your business, the better you will become at knowing how to run promotions that work - but as you get started with these tips in mind, you will be well on your way to having a successful promotion!

A Look At Some Of The Best Ways To Generate Web Traffic

If you have a website, one thing you understand is that traffic is the biggest key of all to achieving success; after all, when you have a lot of traffic, your opportunities for making sales and making money are huge - but when you have very little traffic, your ability to turn profit from your website will be severely limited. Because of this fact, anyone who runs a website should make sure they understand some of the core components of bringing traffic their way. The first thing you need to realize is that you will need to work on your on-site search engine optimization - which means optimizing the keywords and the tags on your site so that you are showing search engines what you want them to see. When you do a good job of this, you will greatly appeal to search engines, and will be able to show them exactly how you are wanting them to rank you.

In addition to optimizing your site for search engines so that it is easier for them to look at your site, you will need to get away from your site to start stirring up backlinks. Backlinks are the links from other sites that point reader back to yours - and the more backlinks you have (and the more highly-ranked the sites from which these backlinks come), the more quickly you will see your traffic numbers and your search engine rank rising!

And finally, you need to start becoming active on other websites, all across the Internet, as well. This means you should aim to leave comments on blogs, and should aim to participate in forums, as doing so will help create more awareness about your site, and will make it easier for you to bring traffic your way!

In all, creating traffic on your website (and making the money that comes with this) is going to be a process - but when you take the right steps along the road for this process, you will increase your chances of achieving success with your website, and of making the sort of money with your site you hope to make!

How To Make Money By Shopping At Garage Sales

When you start to keep your eyes open for opportunities to make money, you begin to realize that these opportunities exist in great abundance. And selling used items online is certainly at the top of the list when it comes to big, easy, profitable ways to make a bit of extra money. And while you might not have piles of useful used items laying around your own house, you can usually find great stuff for sale by others! When you visit garage sales, you will frequently find items being sold for "get rid of it" prices, where you can sell them for much more on eBay.

image

The first tip for shopping at garage sales to make money is to start off with a small-scale operation. Your eBay seller rating is important, so if you start out selling a lot of little items, you will be able to build a solid eBay seller rating early on. The optimal goal would be to make only a single, small investment in "product," and to let this investment pay itself back, after which you can use the money to continue buying new items. You will minimize your risk and also increase the speed with which you are able to double or triple your investment if you start with only about $50 and use it to buy lots of smaller items.

After you have established your seller rating and begun to pile up a little reservoir of money, you should start to look for some items you can sell for a higher price. The biggest key here is research; just because you might think something will sell for a high price does not mean it will! Even before you head out there to shop at garage sales, you should know what you are looking for; in this way, you can be proactive instead of reactive.

Finding items that others want and making these items available for auction is really all there is to making money on eBay. Once you get into a good groove of finding the items people want, your initial investment can start to seriously grow!

Using The Buying Cycle To Your Advantage

If you have a small business website, or if you have started a site for search engine marketing, you will likely be using search engine optimization in order to target people who are searching for the product or service available on your site; while this is a great start to driving traffic your way and making money as a result, you should also realize that there are a few more things you should pay attention to in order to make sure this traffic turns into sales - namely, the way the buying cycle works these days.

There is a high percentage of consumers who will head to the Internet these days when they are about to buy a product (especially a product that will cost a decent chunk of money - which is where your focus should be, especially if you are a search engine marketer), and the first thing people are likely to do when they go online is compare the specs on different products; while it is fine to bring traffic your way at this point, one thing you should also realize is that you are unlikely to convert this particular traffic into profits!

The reason you are unlikely to turn this traffic into profits is because most people will move from this point to A) asking friends (perhaps on Twitter and facebook) for opinions on the products they have looked at, and B) looking up reviews of these products; this is another big spot in the buying cycle that a lot of people target on their sites, but it is not a big part of the buying cycle for actual sales!

Finally, you will reach the end of the buying cycle, when consumers will be searching keywords such as "best deals on" the particular product, or "best prices on" the product in question; because this is the part of the buying cycle when the most sales are going to be made, this is the part of the buying cycle you will want to aim to target in your keyword approach, as this will bring you the highest conversion rate!
If you want to make money on your website, bringing lots of traffic your way will be important, but another aspect that will be just important is converting this traffic into sales - and when you understand the buying cycle, you will be well on your way to doing this!

How To Deal With An eBay Customer Who Has Not Paid

Using eBay can be a great way to make some extra money, or even just to unload some of your old, unwanted stuff. But while eBay is great for selling your items, it is not always great for getting you paid for the items that you "sold." After all, unlike a regular store - where you are paid first, and then you give the customer the item - you have to wait for a person to pay you after they win the bid; and sometimes, this can leave you waiting for a while!

Customers on eBay have four days to pay, which is important to keep in mind if you are dealing with a customer who has not paid you for an item of yours they won. At least four full days must pass after the end of the auction, and although this can seem like ages when you are waiting for a payment, eBay will not take your complaint seriously until this point. At the same time, however, eBay usually takes these matters very seriously if the four full days have passed without the payment.

The first thing you need to do is contact the buyer directly and see if you can work things out with them if they have not paid you. If you contact them and find them to be uncooperative or, worse, unresponsive, you will need to take the next step, which is filing a complaint with eBay's Resolution Center.

The buyer will be notified after you file a complaint with the Resolution Center, and they will again have four days to pay. During this time, they are allowed to contact you and ask for an extension or try to make other arrangements, but you do not have to agree. The item will go down as an unpaid item if it has gone another four days without any payment from the buyer.

This means that you can resell the item (or you can give a Second Chance Offer to one of the bidders who lost), and it means the buyer will have an "unpaid item" on their account. And keep in mind: you can look at people's accounts when they are bidding, and if you run into a bidder with an "unpaid item" on their account, you can block them to keep this from happening to you!

Using Facebook to Find New Marketing Methods

The social media site Facebook has reached a popularity status attained by few. It has over 500 million users worldwide that actively use the website. Connecting with friends and engaging with others are things that an active user does constantly. For a business this means that you have an audience that is absolutely massive. The methods that Facebook allows for when marketing have not been afforded to businesses in the past. You will be badly missing out if your business isn't taking advantage of these opportunities.

The main problem for most businesses when trying to promote on Facebook is the difficulties it presents. In what ways do most businesses market on Facebook? This question is one of many that don't have a definite answer to it. There isn't a set blue print to marketing for a website like Facebook that is this relatively new. A lot of people don't like this about the site, but it offers some very unique opportunities in reality.

A business can experiment on Facebook since there is no set way that most business owners market on it. Once they find an effective way to promote they won’t be competing with thousands of other businesses promoting in the same way. Their own method that they developed will be used solely by them to try and make their business grow. Targeting the audience they desire to attract is the only way to stay successful in the long run though.

It would be a mistake to let these new methods go unexplored. Many people consider old methods of marketing the best option, but in reality they are old and stale. Just because everyone uses them doesn’t mean they are the best option. The best way to market your business is to do so in a way that no other business uses as any marketer will attest. One of the best parts about Facebook marketing is the fact that is hasn't been full exploited by businesses. Stay ahead of the curve and make sure your business gathers new clients in new ways!

Tips For Starting A Christmas Light Business

The dream of being self-employed is something a lot of people hold onto (and with the state of the economy being what it is at the moment, being self-employed can actually be more stable than being employed by a regular job!), but one mistake people tend to make as they pursue this goal is that they end up getting locked into a specific idea of what they want to do in order to be self-employed, rather than keeping their eyes open for various opportunities; if you want to be permanently self-employed, the best thing you can do is open up various avenues for yourself - and one avenue that is especially worth pursuing (and that can be especially profitable!) is hanging Christmas lights.

Before you get started, you will need to make sure you take all the preliminary steps: first off, you will need to make sure you are fully insured for the work before you get started; secondly, you will want to have plenty of Christmas lights purchased and ready to go before you start collecting customers; and thirdly, you will want yard signs that you can put in the yards of the people for whom you hang Christmas lights.

You will want to offer to do a few houses for free once these preliminary aspects are all taken care of; even though you will make no money directly off these houses, doing a few houses for free will make you money in the long run, as you can put your yard sign in these yards and start collecting new customers.

And even though you may be able to handle the bulk of the business on your own, make sure you have someone who will be able to help you if you need it; after all, you might be surprised at how quickly your business booms, and you will not want to have to turn down jobs just because you failed to secure someone who could help you!

You should be able to get started with your Christmas lights business with these tips in mind - which will move you one step closer to being fully self-employed in a variety of areas!

The Benefits Of Carrying Other People's Business Cards With You

Anyone in business understands the prudence of carrying business cards with them wherever they go. You never know who you will meet when you are out, and whenever you meet people, you never truly know who that person is or who that person might know. You are always ready to pass your business card along to someone who might be a future client or customer if you have a stack of your business cards with you. But while just about every businessman and businesswoman understands the how and the why of carrying around their own business cards, few of them ever consider the wisdom of carrying around someone else's business cards as well. The practice of carrying around business cards that belong to others can be extremely beneficial; here are a couple reasons why.

When you are dealing in business, conversations with strangers are golden. Every opportunity to talk to someone you do not know just might be the exact opportunity you have been looking for. But a stranger is likely to be turned off right away if they think you are striking up conversation with them just to sell them something. Naturally, people are protective of their money; they don't want to talk to you if they think you're trying to get some of their money in your pocket! But if you are equipped with others' business cards, you have a full arsenal of safe conversation starters. You might be at the movie theater when you hear someone talking about how they really need a plumber. If you have your favorite plumber's card ready in your stack of others' business cards, you can enter into their conversation. "Excuse me, but I heard you say you need a plumber; here, take this business card - it's for the guy we use on our house; we have always been really happy with his work!" In this way, you have now become a part of their conversation, and you never tried to sell them anything at all. At some point, the conversation will cycle back around to you, as they ask you what you do for a living.

Furthermore, people are far more likely to remember someone who helped them out without any reason to do so. As your conversation has turned back around to you, and to what you do, you will likely end up unloading one of your own business cards as well. And you will have yourself a new customer the next time something arises in this person's life that you might be able to help with.

Carrying others' business cards might seem like nothing more than a small step, but it could just be the "small step" that turns into your next big thing.

Great Investment Books For Every Investor

Hundreds of new investment books are published annually. Some of these books claim to have cracked the code for get-rich-quick investing. Other books claim to be full of "tried and true" principles. Some books tell you how to play the market right now, and others tell you how to play the market in the long run. Some of these books are written by famously successful investors, and others are written by investors you have never heard of; sometimes, you have never heard of them for a reason. All these options beg the question, which books are the right books? The answer to that question is simple: forget about the books published recently, and go back to the ones that have stood the test of time. While there are surely books from the last few years that could help you, it is absolutely vital that you lay a foundation with books that the passing of time has proven to be invaluable. All three of these books are full of advice and wisdom that will help any investor, whether you are brand new at this or have been doing it for ages.

1) The Intelligent Investor: This book is considered a must-read, even though Ben Graham originally published it way back in 1934. In fact, Warren Buffett has called this book "the best investing book ever written."

2) The Essays Of Warren Buffett: And of course, every investor must read Warren Buffett himself; this book arranges Buffett's essays by topic and relevance. While every Buffett book is a good book, this option is a wonderful starting point, as it will aid you in every area of investing.

3) Common Stocks And Uncommon Profits & Other Writings: This book by Philip Fisher explores fifteen qualities of an excellent business. These in-depth thoughts from one of the greatest financial thinkers in history is sure to help you expand your portfolio.

By taking the tips of these men who knew how to make the market work for them, you can start to make it work for yourself; no longer will you be one of those who thinks the people who make money in the stock market are simply lucky; instead, you will know from experience that the people who make money in the stock market just plain know more than those who do not.

Tips For Using Search Engine Optimization With Affiliate Marketing

If you are wanting to test the waters of affiliate marketing - either for a bit of extra money on the side, or in an effort to be your own boss and make a living from home, on your own time - one thing you should realize is that it will be of the utmost importance that you are able to figure out how to get people to your website (after all, you will not generate many sales if you are generating no traffic!); affiliate marketing and search engine optimization are both powerful tools if used properly - but if you are wanting to get the most out of affiliate marketing, you will have to pair it with great search engine optimization!

You will want to make sure you have an understanding of what you are targeting within your when you are setting up a website; you will either want to go with a very narrow and specific target (picking a niche that you will focus on, and sticking with this throughout all the content on your website), or you will want to go very broad (exploring lots of different topics and products, and realizing that some will be misses, but that others will be hits).

Another thing you should realize is that some people only use the Internet to search for information and knowledge about products, while others will be looking for an opportunity to buy; as you create a website that is keyword-intensive, make sure these keywords will be attracting people to your site who are ready to make a purchase, instead of attracting those who are just wanting to gather some information.

And remember that there is no need for you to limit yourself on your website to just your affiliate marketing, as you can also make money on your site through pay-per-click ads. As you continue to add content to your website, doing so in such a way that you will rise in search engine rankings, you will be able to seriously boost your income with a nice rotation of ads that get people to click on them - and that get extra money to keep on coming your way!

Hiring Great Freelancers

If you run a business of your own, you probably put a great deal of emphasis on the importance of hiring the "right" employees, but you will also reach a point when you need to hire consultants or freelancers for projects (sometimes small projects, sometimes large), and it can be difficult to know if you are following the right steps to hire good workers. If you are running a business - regardless of whether it is a small business or a large business - here are a few tips you can follow in order to fulfill your desire of hiring the best people for the assignments you have.

Have patience: When a freelance project needs to be completed soon, the temptation can be to post an ad on a job site and to hire someone from the first few freelancers who respond. Keep in mind, however, the fact that your project is important to you and your company; if you give it enough time, you will likely receive hundreds of inquiries regarding the job you have posted, and even though it will feel nice to "get it over with" and hire someone right away, it will be much better in the long run if you take the time to make sure you are putting the project in good hands.

Look at the resumes: Any good freelancer will also have a freelance resume that they can send; unless you are unable to pay for an experienced freelancer, you should make sure you take the time to look over these resumes, paying close attention to the resumes that show a track record of good work and a great deal of experience.

Ask for samples: A great way to narrow down the "applicants" for a freelance job is to ask for samples of their work, but an even better way (perhaps the best way of all) is to ask them to create samples for you off of a unique "test assignment." When you take this final step, you will be able to truly discern which of the qualified applicants are the right applicants for the assignment you need taken care of.

How To Deal With Criticism At Work

With the amount of time and energy you invest into your job, it can seem like your job is your "life" - no matter how much effort you might put into trying to convince yourself otherwise - and because of this tendency for people to feel this way about their jobs, it can be a tough pill to swallow when they encounter what they feel is unwarranted criticism or negative feedback about their work. While dealing with criticism in an area into which you invest so much of your own time and energy can be difficult, it is also quite possible to deal with this criticism in an appropriate manner, as long as you take the proper approach.

The first thing you need to realize about criticism is that it is important to accept it when it occurs; if your boss is giving you criticism at work, it is likely because they see something that they feel you should fix, and arguing with them is not going to make the situation any better!

Find a place where you can be alone for a little while after you have accepted the criticism; in this "alone place," think about the criticism you were given, and establish whether there is anything you can take away from the things that were said. During this time, you should acknowledge to yourself the things you do well in your job, but you should also see what truth and means for learning you can take from the things that were said to you.

Finally, the most important part of dealing with criticism at work is reminding yourself that - no matter how much time you spend at your job - your job is not your life, and there are things in your life that are more important than your job! By coming to this realization, it will become much easier for you to learn from criticism given to you at work, without getting weighed down by the negative aspects of the criticism in question.

Tips For Gaining Exposure For Your Business Through Article Writing

Article writing is one of the best ways for you to gain exposure for your website (after which you can submit these articles to article websites, and can see your traffic and search engine ranking increase as a result), but before you will be able to really start getting into article writing yourself, it will be helpful for you to understand exactly how article writing will help you, and exactly what you will need to do in order to take advantage of this approach.

One thing that is important to be aware of is the fact that backlinks (that is, links from another site that point to yours) are a big part of optimizing your site for search engines; by taking this knowledge and incorporating it into your efforts toward article writing, you come to understand that each of these articles you write will effectively be creating backlinks for your site, thereby increasing your site's search engine ranking.

After you have written an article and submitted it to one article site, you should consider submitting it to a handful of other article sites as well; you will get penalized for duplicate content if you try to submit the exact same article to another site, but by simply changing a few things throughout the article, you will be able to submit it elsewhere and broaden the reach of this article as a result.

And finally, another thing that will be important is that each article you write is open-ended (that is, that it does not open, explore, and conclude a topic all within the course of the article), as this will ensure that the reader will want to keep reading, and will click on the link you provide in order to find out more.

When you use this approach in your exploration of article writing, you will be able to use backlinks to increase your search engine ranking, and will be able to increase your traffic through the people who click on these links, all by simply writing about something you probably enjoy writing about already!

How To Write A Great Job Resume

Your job resume will be the first thing of yours a prospective employer ever sees, and with the economy in a depressed state and unemployment rates still high, you will probably be competing against a number of other applicants for any job; for this reason, it will be important that you understand how to make your job resume stand out - and when you learn how to do this, creating the feeling with a prospective employer that they "have to" call you and bring you in for an interview, you will be much more likely to meet success.

As you put together your resume, you should realize that the design will be the first thing you want to think about, and even though this might seem like an odd place to start (after all, you are applying for a job, not applying to be a document designer), you will always be wise to consider a prospective employer's perspective: more likely than not, this prospective employer has been sitting at their desk for hours, poring over a stack of resumes, and while studies have shown that the first look at a resume lasts about 15-20 seconds, a resume with clear headings and lots of white space on the paper will cause exhausted eyes to linker; this resume will seem like an inviting escape to them, and they will likely give yours a whole lot more than 15 to 20 seconds!

Another thing that will be important in setting you apart will be listing your qualifications and accomplishments; even though you cannot make stuff up in this section, you should try to dig deep, uncovering things you might not have thought of off the top of your head, and if there is anything that seems as though it might be useful to the prospective employer as they try to make a decision, go ahead and include it in the resume.

Finally, you should list your qualifications, realizing that this will be among the most important selling points of the resume you are putting together; this is where you will be able to set yourself above your competition, so approach this section as though it is an "advertisement," telling the prospective employer why they should hire you.

Searching for a new job these days can be difficult, but when you prepare your resume with these tips in mind, it will become a whole lot easier!

How To Trend Upward At Your Job

When you spend a lot of time working at your job, but feel that you are not getting the recognition that you deserve for all the hard work you are putting in, this can be especially frustrating, and perhaps the worst thing of all about feeling this way is that it can seem like there is really nothing you can do to improve the situation. There are a few specific things you can keep in mind if you have ever experienced this feeling of under-appreciation at your job, starting with the concept that you should look at your job (and your job performance) the same way you would look at stock, realizing that if you are not trending upward, this means that you are trending down.

When it comes to to making sure that you are always feeling like you are trending upward at your job, the first step is to always take care of the duties you are supposed to be taking care of - which means, you should pay close attention to the things that are expected of you, and you should do everything you can to get these things taken care of.

Once you have made sure you are always taking care of your responsibilities, the next step for making sure you are always trending upward at your job is for you to also do your best to go over and above what is expected of you; don't just take care of your duties, but take care of them so well that the people above you notice!

And in addition to focusing on going over and above with the things that are expected of you, you should also focus on finding other things on which you can go over and above - looking for things that are not "expected" of you, but that will nevertheless be beneficial for you to do.

When you place an emphasis on these three areas - making sure you are always doing what is expected of you, doing a better job at these things than expected, and looking for things you can do that are not expected of you - you will be able to ensure upward movement at your job, both in your performance, and in the rewards you reap!
