How to Own Your Area Through Relationships
The area that your businesses home office occupies needs to be well established by you and your employees. Although it isn't always the case, your businesses backyard should be the best area for you to get easy sales. If you want to solidify the territory around your business and keep others out there are effective methods to use. Building relationships with clients you've already acquired and clients you would like to have through personal contact is the best technique. All your business dealings are centered around these relationships. Your current customers will statistically be more loyal to you the more often you see them. A great habit to get into is to make personal visits to all of your current customers as often as your schedule allows. This habit will establish a personal bond between you and will give your business dealings a much more personal feel for them. This personal relationship should eliminate any chance that a competitor may have for stealing them from your business. Potential customers are a whole different animal. Many people feel like if these customers already told you 'no' that they aren't worth your time. However all it takes is one bad experience for them to look for a new provider. In this case you want to make sure you are the first person they contact about a switch. Since you will have been constantly visiting them and showing your face they will definitely call you at the first sign of distress. Make sure you establish relationships with anyone and everyone in your local area to get the most business out of it. People often mistake the word 'no' for 'never' instead of what it really means; 'not now'. If you want to distance yourself from the competition this is the mentality you need to have. You will also build a reputation as a great business person if you are in constant contact with all of your customers and neighbors.
