Relationships Lead to Sales

The area that your businesses home office occupies needs to be well established by you and your employees. The best area for your business to pick up the easy sales should be in the community surrounding although it can be easier said than done. There are effective techniques that you can use to exploit this area and keep all of your competitors away from it. The best one is to have constant personal contact with both current and potential customers to build relationships. All your business dealings are centered around these relationships.

Your current customers will statistically be more loyal to you the more often you see them. Make it part of your normal habit to get in front of your current local customers as often as possible. This habit will establish a personal bond between you and will give your business dealings a much more personal feel for them. This personal relationship should eliminate any chance that a competitor may have for stealing them from your business.

Acquiring new customers in this way can be much harder. They will have already told you ‘no,’ so keeping in touch with them may seem like a waste. Yet they will turn somewhere else for a provider if their current one does them wrong. You should be the first person that they call when they need to make the switch to a new provider. Since you will have been constantly visiting them and showing your face they will definitely call you at the first sign of distress.

If you want to maximize the business in your immediate surroundings do so through relationship building. 'Not now' is the true meaning of the word 'no'; it doesn't mean 'never'. If you want to distance yourself from the competition this is the mentality you need to have. You will also build a reputation as a great business person if you are in constant contact with all of your customers and neighbors.
