Tips For Writing A Winning Job Resume
The first part of you that a prospective employer will ever see is your job resume. If you are searching for a job in this depressed economy, with unemployment what it is, you will likely be competing against plenty of applicants. Due to this, you must understand the ways by which you can make your job resume stand out. The method of "listing your previous jobs and hoping for the best" used to work just fine. But you will be limiting yourself if you take this approach these days. Instead, you should learn how to make your resume stand out from those around it, creating the feeling with a prospective employer that they "have to" call you and bring you in for an interview. The first thing to consider when writing your interview is the design. Considering the prospective employer's perspective will help you understand why this is an important place to begin when writing your resume. More than likely, they have been at their desk for what seems like ages, poring over a stack of resumes. In fact, studies have proven that the initial look a resume gets lasts about 15-20 seconds. You will not make tired eyes feel kind toward you if you fill the resume with small font and big, blockish paragraphs. Instead, you should make sure you leave lots of white space on the paper, designing it with clear headings. You might even encourage the tired eyes to spend more than 15-20 seconds on their first glance at your resume if you make it inviting and relaxing for them! The next step for setting you apart from other applicants is the section where you list your accomplishments and qualifications. Never fabricate this section, but make sure you dig deep to uncover things that might not have popped into your mind right away. If anything seems as though it might be useful to them in making a decision (especially a decision that will lead them closer to you), include it! Finally, the section of your resume where you list your qualifications will be a big selling point. This is where you set yourself head and shoulders above your competition. This section should be thought of as an advertisement; you should use this section to convince the prospective employer of all the reasons why they should "buy" you. Although searching for a job can be frightening in these uncertain times, knowing the steps to a winning resume can make it a whole lot easier.
