Will I Be All Right Building My Own Website?

If you want to have a business - or if you want to sell anything at all - you need to have a website of your own. But a website is not free to build, and when you are trying to save up money for starting your business, it can be tough to spend extra on a website. Because of this, lots of people who have their own business also end up asking this question: Can I build my own website? If you have ever wondered this yourself, the answer - believe it or not - is that you absolutely can build your own website, as long as you know a few things.

The first thing you need to do, before you can build your own website, is to register your own domain name. It usually only costs about $10 per year to have your domain name, so the toughest part is actually finding a domain name that works for you. For anyone who has a unique name for their company (or who has a unique name of their own), this part is easy; it is when your desired domain name is already taken that it can take time!

The next step - since you will want to be able to set up and run everything on your own - is finding a template that lets you do everything autonomously. You will be able to update, change, and adjust your site whenever you want if you use a template such as a Wordpress template.

And if you want to design and run your website on your own, it will be key that you put in some time doing research. The first thing you need to research is basic HTML coding; this is not very complicated stuff, but it will enable you to have total control over many aspects of your website. And the other bit of research you will need to do is make sure you find out as much as you can about the process of building a website. The book Learning Web Design is one of the best resources for this, and although it is a $45 book, it is only $25 on Amazon!

You will be able to start building your website - and making it look exactly how you want it to look - as soon as you start learning what you are doing!
